Human spoken languages

This project is mostly written in English, but has partial, poor support for 8 other languages that include:

  1. Afrikaans
  1. Albanian
  1. Amheric
  1. Arabic
  1. Armenian
  1. Azerbaijani
  1. Bangla
  1. Basque
  1. No other human spoken languages are included (other than English)

Computer languages

This project is mostly written in Python, but is also written in 3 other languages that include:

  1. Rich Text Format
  1. Markdown
  1. Microsoft INI
  1. No other computer languages were used

B Builds

For this project, starting with version 3 of the beta, B builds were included separately. B builds strip out most media to drastically reduce the size compared to the original full version.

The following content is stripped out of B builds:

Video files

Video project files

Many image files

Audio files

Audio project files

Extra program files (Python, Audacity)

Audio

With this project, an album of 11 audio files is included in WAV format.

Here is the tracklist:

01 CDVDRAYCheck .wav 02 Chord.wav 03 Connecting to receiver.wav 04 Dead Chirp .wav 05 Exclamation .wav 06 Floppy check.wav 07 Shutdown sound.wav 08 Startup sound official.wav 09 System crash type A.wav 10 Virus Detected .wav 11 Virus removed .wav

Here is a link to the first instance of the full album on GitHub (build 4)

The total running time is 154 seconds (2 minutes and 34 seconds)

Other MEDOS projects

This is only the external hard drive edition of MEDOS, there are other versions available for different external storage mediums, such as:

MEDOS Floppy edition (only for virtual machines)

This version of MEDOS is designed for virtual floppy disk files to be used remotely through a virtual machine.

MEDOS Solid State Drive (SSD) edition

This version of MEDOS is designed to run on external Solid State Drives, either through a host machine, or remotely on a virtual machine.

MEDOS Tape drive edition (coming soon)

This version of MEDOS is designed to be run on a tape drive.

MEDOS commercial

The MEDOS commercial was an old project within this project for a commercial for the product.

The commercial uses audio files of Stephen Hawking generated by Lingojam and talks about the future of dos over old operating systems and 286 computers (NON HTTPS LINK WARNING). The commercial is outdated.

Spelling errors

This project has a few spelling errors that I cloned to GitHub. I didn't fix these, as they were originally like that in the original project, and I can't change it at all, as I want to have a complete archive with no differences (other than things added, or files I can't upload)

The only word that was misspelled in a folder/file name is Armenian (spelled as Armanian)

Included programs

This project includes 2 third party, free and open source programs, for the Windows, MacOS, and Linux architectures, so you don't have to get them yourself. The included programs are:

  1. Python 3.6.4
  1. Audacity 2.2.2
  1. No other programs included

GitHub issues

This is a list of the current issues with this project, from the GitHub issues section.

#1 Couldn't upload 10 files

#2 No other issues at the moment

Programs used

To make this project originally, I used the following programs:

Snipping tool (Windows)

Notepad++ (Windows)

Audacity 2.2.2 (Windows)

Python 3.6.4 (Windows)

Windows explorer (Windows)

Windows Movie Maker 2012 (Windows) part of Windows Live 2012

MS-PAINT 10.0 (Windows)

Cmd.exe (Windows)

No other programs were used to make the original 7 versions of this project

Recommended programs

Here are the recommended programs to use for using this project:

Audacity (2.2.2 or later)

Python 3.0 or later

A source editor (such as notepad++, no other alternates listed)

LibreOffice (any version) or your preferred Office suite (As long as it has RTF support)

An image viewer (such as KDE image viewer)

A PDF viewer (such as Okular)

No other requirements/programs listed

Devices

I plan to have MEDOS HDD work on specific types of external hard drives, I am not sure if manufacturing the parts will be feasible for a while.

Couldn't upload 10 files

Couldn't upload 10 files

The following files couldn't be uploaded due to the GitHub 25 Megabyte file limit:

  1. //MEDOS_HDD/MEDOS HDD Beta/Build 4/1 System/System12/Mac 86x64/audacity-macos-2.2.2.dmg
  1. //MEDOS_HDD/MEDOS HDD Beta/Build 4/1 System/System12/Mac 86x64/python-3.6.4-macosx10.6.pkg

  1. //MEDOS_HDD/MEDOS HDD Beta/MEDOS Build 3 SDK.zip
  1. //MEDOS_HDD/MEDOS HDD Beta/MEDOS Build 4 SDK.zip

I won't fix this until GitHub raises the file limit to 280 megabytes or higher, I don't even know if Microsoft will do that.
