ConfSays

A Java EE 7 application to track twitter interactions happening during a conference.

How to deploy the application on OpenShift##

• Create an OpenShift Online account https://www.openshift.com/

• Install OpenShift command-line tool rhc https://www.openshift.com/developers/rhc-client-tools-install

• Create a Wildfly application using OpenShift Online web console.

• Add MySQL 5.5 cartridge

$ rhc cartridge-add --app <app_name> mysql-5.5

• Clone the application to local machine.

$ rhc git-clone <app-name>

• Pull the source code from Git repository

$ git remote add upstream -m master https://github.com/shekhargulati/confsays.git
$ git pull -s recursive -X theirs upstream master

• Create a new twitter application https://dev.twitter.com/

• Create four environment variables

$ rhc env-set --app <app_name> TWITTER_CONSUMER_KEY=<consumer_key>
$ rhc env-set --app <app_name> TWITTER_CONSUMER_SECRET=<consumer_secret>
$ rhc env-set --app <app_name> TWITTER_ACCESS_TOKEN=<access_token>
$ rhc env-set --app <app_name> TWITTER_ACCESS_TOKEN_SECRET=<access_secret>

• Deploy the application

$ git push

confsays's Issues

Use CDI Events to loose couple archiver client and conference resource

Only admins can stop tracking a conference

Show details about the tweet

Show the following details about each tweet:

• Link to each twitter profile
• Date/time
• Clear separate between different tweets, using a marker or line or something intuitive
• Ability to RT an existing tweet

add validation using bean validation

Graphical representation of data

Show a graphical bar chart that shows the top 5 tweeters.

Start and end date are not rendered properly in edit page

Use track field to track a conferene

Improved timeline

Show references of hashtag and @ references in the timeline. Is it even possible ?

Add loggig using interceptors

Ask user to authenticate using twitter and then use credentials for fetching tweets

Improve UI

Main conference URL should be user friendly

currenty conference url are like http://www.confsays.com/conference?id=1719 but they should be like http://www.confsays.com/conference/devnation-2014

Integrate TravisCI build

Add profining using interceptors

Edit a conference

I could not find any way to edit an existing conference. For example, I'd like to add the complete set of speakers but can't do it now.
