This project is heavily inspired by spek!

What is this?

This is a small audio spectrum analyzer that I made after I realized that spek is no longer actively maintained. I also wondered if it was possible to make it more performant and portable. To get both performance and cross-platform compatibility this has become a PWA and is using the browsers native audio API (which is fast!). Unfortunately not all browsers support things like the OfflineAudioContext I need, therefore it only works on Chromium-based browsers.

I'd say, pick any audio file and try it out :)

Logarithmic scale

Could it be possible to add option to show the frequencies on a logarithmic scale? It would greatly help visualize music and other more organic sounds.

Add a way to select audio input device

Currently the "default" device is used all the time. It'd be nice to be able to select the device you want to record audio with.

Add download button

It'd be nice to be able to download the spectrum as .png-file.

Add a way to play the audio file

I'd be nice to be able to play the analyzed audio file after analyzing it (and displaying the playback-position).

Zooming in and out

It'd be nice to be able to zoom in / pan the spectrum.

Ctrl + up/down not working in Chrome

Hi, on Chrome I'm unable to set the upper decibel limit (tried on both my PCs). In MS Edge it works fine.

Spectrogram from microphone input?

I'm looking into creating an app for live FFT and I really like your approach.
Could it be possible to use this project as a starting point to make a PWA displaying a live spectrogram?
