dc-count-for-kids's Issues

Add Commas

Build and implement function to add commas to all displayed numerical values.

Fix hoverbox location bug

Different location on different res computers. Implement auto-calculation based on where the elements on the page are located.

Figure out what causes the scroll lag

If a user loads multiple maps, after each load, the amount of time it takes to scroll down the page increases noticeably. This does not affect the interactivity of the map itself.

MAP BUG: After first instance, rollover issues.

From Jerzy:

When I first load the map, it's fine. But if I click the dropdown menu to show the Single Mother Households map, the neighborhoods showing in the sidebar are misaligned with their actual map locations.

Then after looking at that map, if I go back to the first map (High Poverty Nbhds), most of the map is fine again but I still get an issue in the far NW: when I mouseover outside city limits in the top left corner, it shows diff nbhds in the sidebar. If I mouseover the words "MacArthur Blvd" on the basemap, the sidebar shows Brookland. If the mouse moves up and right over the words "River Rd", the sidebar shows Woodridge.

This is happening now in Chrome 21.0.1180.83 m and in IE 9.0.8112.16421 and it happened at work yesterday on Firefox (not sure what version).

Wording on Other

Waiting on wording from DC Action on either:

  • Re-wording the "other" category and explaining the cutoff for not adding the Asian population in the demographics chart
