ksw-toolkit-service's Issues

McuReader fails on service restart

i can only restart the service only if i clear data on android settings for the service app (not the client app)
fresh full upgrade to ksw 4.0.7 firmware to check if issue persists (with full reset)
crashes on service restart, os restart, any restart :)
if i clear service data, it starts successfully.
ksw-toolkit client v1.2
service version 1.2.1
mcu 0230A0eGS-E39-KTL-BA-211011G
System 4.0.7 10-501A-EA-1-...
previosly i have used them both without issues (started crashing after updating both client/service while on os 3.9.x)

2 errors i got:

1st:
KSW-ToolKit-CoreService:
KSW-ToolKit-Service stopped

2nd:
KSW-ToolKit-CoreService:
Could not start McuReader!
[Ljava.lang.StackTraceElement;@54325d6

Not able to install on android 12 or 13.

When trying to install the APK on android 12 or 13 it gives the error that the package already exists. Which is not the case. I verified that by checking the installed packages.

Shrink/Hide Topbar not working

Apologies if this isn't a KSWToolkit issue, however I'm struggling to hide my topbar in an Android 11 HU running KSW 2.0.9.

When toolkit is running, the topbar is hidden. However, clicking shrink/hide doesn't persist. If you nav away to another menu or close the app/reopen, it's off again. The topbar isn't affected and still remains.

Is there any way to test this or call the adb function directly to see if it's failing?

Thanks.

Polite request to bring the GUI code back (somewhere)

Hi Snaggly,
This is an amazing piece of work! Thank you so much for sharing it with others

I have noticed that with abaab72 you have removed the GUI from the project. Unless you have different licensing plans for this part of the codebase, could you push it to a separate repo?

I'd love to add a reverse event handling from my car (and then map it to the switch to OEM screen)

Hope I am making sense. Anyway, thank you again for this contribution!

Tablet mode

Turning off tablet mode does not go back to original display settings.
It looks the same even after reboot.

Toggle between light/dark mode not working on Android 10 KSW v4.2.9

Upgraded to Ksw-Q-Userdebug_OS_v4.2.9-ota.zip a couple weeks ago. Noticed that now, the dark/light mode toggle is no longer working. I know it was working on v4.0.4 or v4.0.7 previously (toolkit 1.2). Tried upgrading to the 1.2.2 toolkit, and same issue.

When I look at the MCU listener, I can toggle the headlight switch and see the on/off message. The on message will trigger dark mode, but the off message will not bring it back to light mode.

I tried rolling back to a previous KSW version, but it seems they do some embedding of hidden files that keeps broken things broken.

Have you seen this? Any idea on what I can check?

zLink

First of all sorry for opening this issue because it is no issue.
I just didn’t know how to contact you otherwise.
I wanted to ask you about zLink. As far as I got in gathering information about this mysterious app it’s made by a Chinese company. But apart from that there is no information.
But I am really interested in this app an especially getting the source code and the technology behind it and how it works. Because I am pretty sure they didn’t get official MFI certification 😅.
But you seem to know something I think because you’re using their API or something like that?
Do you know any source that I can contact to get more information about this app and how it works. Especially getting CarPlay to work. I would be glad to hear from you. Have a nice day 🙂
