+1 on this. If a dependency fails, the script should stop.

+1 - I have observed this too and think it is wrong behaviour.
Further, I think it is even possible that if a required library is met by a system install, then if A depends_on(B) and B fails to build while building A, then A might even build successfully but with the wrong B, taken from the system install. I have not witnessed this.
