I think this is great... I have been having issues with session resets as well. Its a big problem for me.

I needed the same thing - I'm split testing different prices on a product, and wanted to make sure that return visitors were always shown the same price they saw the first time around.

The 'fix' I used for a Sinatra application was swapping the content of my configuration block from:

enable :sessions

to:

use Rack::Session::Cookie, 
  :key => 'rack.session',
  :expire_after => 2628000,
  :secret => 'secret_string'

This seems to work and keep the split session data around for a month.

I'd support the feature suggestion though, it would be nice and neat if session length was included as a configuration option in Split.

The problem with that is that it makes the session last a lifetime, instead of just the Split-cookie. This has side-effects like the user staying logged in forever.

Yes, that's a good point! The only reason it's working is because I'm not using sessions for anything other than split testing.
