staywokeorg.github.io's Introduction

staywokeorg.github.io

Setup

This site uses the Grunt task runner for its build system, which you can download via npm. If you don't have npm installed on your workstation, take a look at npm's Getting Started Guide and follow their steps.

After cloning the repo to your workstation, follow these steps for local setup:

  1. Install Grunt globally with npm install -g grunt-cli.
  2. Navigate to the root directory of the repo.
  3. Run npm install. This will grab the dev dependencies from package.json and install them in a folder called node_modules in the project directory.

Build Steps

Make your style changes to the Less file located at less/styles.less.

When you are ready to build and compile that Less (plus selected Bootstrap Less, which is imported at the top of our custom Less) to production-ready CSS, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the project directory.
  2. Run the default build task grunt.

staywokeorg.github.io's Issues

Add Bootstrap Less so we can use variables (including mobile breakpoints) in custom Less file.

Hey folks,

Right now the site is using a CDN to serve compiled Bootstrap CSS. This is fine is the short term, but in order to utilize Bootstrap Less variables, such as mobile breakpoints, we need to have the uncompiled Less included in the project so that all variables can be utilized directly in our custom Less.

This will involve modifying Gruntfile.js to include commands to compile Bootstrap's Less and, of course, removing that CDN reference from homepage.

In terms of build process, this won't change anything. The command to compile Boostrap's Less would be a part of the default grunt build command.

I will assign this to myself to work on this, and I plan to tackle it this evening. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks everyone!
Jen
