Reliability against crashes in Go
It would be nice to catch panics and do a controlled restart. The Go runtime seems to abort the process which is bad for an always-on reliable server.
Do we need to extend the Go runtime to fix this?
Server SSL support
It should be possible to connect to SSL IRC networks.
Graceful restart without dropping connections
The restart command should reexecute the program without losing state or dropping connections. Clients and the IRC network should not notice that bouncin restarted.
This will allow smooth software upgrades.
We probably want to use os.ForkExec() to explicitly pass file descriptors and when the new process is happy, exit our old process.
Listen SSL support
Bouncin should use SSL/TLS by default for listening.
We should also use openssl(1) to generate a self-signed cert on first run and allow the user to configure their IRC client with it.
