bookme's Introduction

Welcome to BookMe

A straightforward solution to create a 1-to-1 booking link and create Google Calendars events

This project would be something similar to Calendly (and lookalike projects) but with very minimal and basic functionalities.

It just give the ability to connect multiple calendars (with Google Calendar integration) and obtain a unique link to book availabities.

The attendee could even connect his own calendar to see only matchin slots.

Technologies

Client Side

  • React

Server Side

  • NodeJs
  • Firebase

Configuration

  1. Go to https://developers.google.com/identity/sign-in/web/sign-in and sign in for a new client ID
  2. Put your new client ID into the file .env.example for the value REACT_APP_CLIENT_ID
  3. Rename the .env.sample to .env

bookme's Issues

The user might want to create an event to a different calendar

Chances are that a user is creating a personal availability that could potentially impact someone else availability, or that the event should be added to a shared calendar.

So the user could decide whether to add the booked events to his own calendar or to a different one.

Generate unique QR Code for a newly created availability

As a user, I would like to have the ability to quickly share an event booking calendar (perhaps during conferences).

Generating a QR code after the creation of a new event would be an interesting feature to reach this goal.

Give the user the ability to create custom recurring events

A user could have the need to create a recurring availability (for example, the same slot every 2 weeks).

The user could choose to repeat the availibity:

  • on a specific amount of weeks
  • on a specific amount of months, even choosing on which week of the month

Give the ability to the user to manage his own availabilities.

Hello,

I'm the admin of a website for a client who doesn't have admin rights on the said website. It's a one person business and she manages her own hours. We both are reluctant to give her admin rights just so that she can set her own holidays and manage her schedule.

So maybe I'm missing something but I couldn't find a way to do this myself.

Thank you

Record event availability on Firebase

  • register calendar ID
  • allow the user to give a name to the availability
  • return a successful message
  • return an error message

We can even think to create a QR code after each creation in order to be shared and allow a user to quickly book a user.

Create mechanism to book a user

A user should be able to see the availability of another user, by navigating a specific link, and book himself for a given time, specifying name / surname / email and matter.

The user should be able to select the date and the time by matching the current availability.

We should consider any kind of conflicts between the availability and the user calendar.

An interesting feature could be to integrate even the booker calendar, in order to automatically show any potential match between the 2 availability.
