You can also just rotate the model so that the axis you want to bend is along the X axis (then rotate back to the desired orientation outside of the bend call)

It gets unnecessarily complicated when you already need to do a lot of work to get the bent to align with the rest of the object.
I have a complicated object in which I want to put a bend (the deck of a scooter)
I actually came up with a module that puts a bend starting from y axis in an object without discarding the rest of the object.
it takes dimensions of object, radius and angle ... steps are calculated from $fn.
would you like the module?
BTW ... how about having also hyperbolic bends ?
