Hi everybody. First of all, hats off to the developer of Power Toggles! I found it earlier this year and still feel guilty using it without paying!
So, two things...
Yes, as others have mentioned, it's be awesome if the mobile hotspot toggle worked, at least for a rooted S4 running Lollipop. But the main reason I came here is to mention the issue I've had from the beginning. That being that the flashlight toggle sometimes refuses to turn off and sometimes comes back on. Just wondered if the developer has any input or if anyone here has had the same problem. Other than that, this app is amazing.
One more thing. I have separate apps that will power off the phone or restart immediately without a confirmation. It's be just one more plus if the power off and restart Toggles did not require a confirmation. Just a thought. Of course, I just read that Power Toggles is discontinued so maybe I'll have to see if that's possible with Tasker.
Hi,
I’m using Power Toggle on a Doogee X5S with Android 5.1+,
and it appears that :
Workaround : disable all notifications on screenlock :o)
(it’s sad since I’m using power toggles to be able to activate/deactivate wifi, bluetooth, data directly from the lockscreen... :o) )
I've set Toggle settings -> GPS sources to "GPS & network" and "Network", so it should toggle between "High accuracy" and "Battery saving" location setting in Android.
My device is a BQ Aquaris X5 Plus.
The toggle used to work in Firmware 1.5.1, but stopped working after the update to Firmware 1.6. (Both firmware versions use Android 6.0.1).
A command is executed with root access, but results in an error:
Please let me know whether this is an issue with Power Toggles or a Firmware issue.
Add an option to disable the proximity sensor. Thanks, David Devine
I have a new Pixel 3a with Android 10. I have a home screen power toggles widget with a toggle for wifi hotspot, but that toggle doesn't work. I can tap it but it gets stuck in the intermediate activating state and wifi hotspot isn't activated.
I am currently using the wifi hotspot toggle in Android quick settings, but it would be super convenient if this were fixed in Power Toggles!
After using the screen lock toggle, the device can only be unlocked via pin/pattern. Using the fingerprint unlock prompts for pin. If power button is used to lock device, fingerprint unlock works. This is apparently caused by improper use of DevicePolicyManager lockNow() functionality.
See issue here: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=191955
Root isn't working with latest SuperSU.
Macros toggle - this is one toggle for several actions, like one click for:
Since Android 8.x (or 7.x - I am not 100% certain), the system menu split "Wireless & Networks" menu item into 2 separate ones, namely "Network & Internet" and "Connected devices". Bluetooth and NFC is changed to the latter. (see screenshot below)
so clicking on the NFC toggle is now launching the wrong activity.
the intent should be revised to android.provider.Settings.ACTION_NFC_SETTINGS
https://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Settings#ACTION_NFC_SETTINGS
p.s. Understood the developer is no longer maintaining this app. Solution is posted here for anyone who is interested to build their own version.
It seems that there is no popular fork on Play Store yet. Perhaps it's partially due to the decreasing demand on similar widgets when modern Android comes with "Quick Settings" feature. It does most of the job, but unfortunately NFC isn't there yet (in stock image by Google). Anyone has a better solution?
Hi,
using the power toggle on the notification area,
with some greyish/white theme,
I’d like to be able to choose a specific color to (f.e.) the Data toggle, which I would like to clearly appear as blue, yellow, or whatever, if activated.
In other words : it would be cool having the ability to choose a specific theme to a specific toggle, bypassing the global theme of the whole line.
;)
Hi. Is it possible to use PowerToggles to create a simple button to keep the screen on -- independent of any app?
Thanks.
Does it have "Battery saver Mode Toggle for lollipop"?
Apart from on/off, Android location settings allow several precision options as a coarseness/energy tradeoff.
For example, I have location enabled always, but in low-power (cell only), only switching to more energy-hungry GPS ocasionally. Direct 'network' and 'GPS+network' location mode toggles (with optional menu as done elsewhere) would work for me.
TIA.
Also see related #12.
Allow Tasker via plugin to change the state of switches - e.g. toggle things on/off unattended.
Seems like I should make some extra tweaks to the project in order to build it.
When I try to build it, gradle outputs messages like these:
/home/ppk/IdeaProjects/PowerToggles/res/layout/widget_config_activity_common.xml:210: Error: Duplicate id @+id/btn_1, already defined earlier in this layout [DuplicateIds] android:id="@+id/btn_1" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ /home/ppk/IdeaProjects/PowerToggles/res/layout/widget_config_activity_common.xml:34: @+id/btn_1 originally defined here /home/ppk/IdeaProjects/PowerToggles/res/layout/widget_config_activity_common.xml:219: Error: Duplicate id @+id/btn_2, already defined earlier in this layout [DuplicateIds]
Broadcasting tiles in the quick settings menu is not working with Android N.
I've been using POWER TOGGLES for ages and I'm very sad that development has stopped. I installed a Android 7.0 rom for a friend (huawei p10 lite) and old 6.0.4 version is no longer working. Pressing on the power toggles buttons has no effect.
Happens under Moto G Adroid 5.1 and Galaxy Tab S2 (6.0.1).
Adding GPS toggle, with whatever GPS options I choose always shows system location settings.
I was looking for a on/off, no settings toggle.
TIA.
I would love to see this app added to the F-Droid repository. Considering it is on github, that should be fairly easy as explained here:
https://f-droid.org/manual/fdroid.html#Importing-Applications
I always search on F-Droid first when I need an app and try to use FOSS wherever possible. More people would find it if it were uploaded there. Also, this would make the project easier to install for people with non-stock ROMs without the Play Store.
Hi, I just downloaded your app for the quick USB Tethering, but upon trying to use the functionality for it (setting up a USB Tethering button in a Widget or Notification and clicking on it) it goes to the WiFi Hotspot settings page instead.
I'm using Android 5.0 on an LG G3.
