swolebro-youtube's Introduction

This is just a dumping ground for files related to my YouTube channel, which is mostly about workshop projects, CNC machinery, and Arduino stuff right now. Don't expect the files here to make much (if any) sense without the context provided by the videos.

If you asked a question on a YouTube page of mine, and I referred you to here, please go to the issues tab up above, first search for anything that might answer your question. (You'll want to clear the `is:open` filter from the search box before searching.) If you don't find anything, then submit a new issue. Please include the relevant video link(s) at the bottom of your issue so it's easier for others to find in the future.

Videos relating to content in this repo will have permalinks in their descriptions to here. Those permalinks will go to a specific revision of this repo, and the latest version of it may have additional tweaks/changes to those files. You can check the git log to see changes that were made, and the reasons why.

There's also a chance that files will be removed from this repo and broken out into their own projects, if anything grows so big as to warrant that. If you don't see a file in the latest revision that was here at some prior point, again, check the git log, and see why it was removed and where it was moved to. If you're looking for 3D printing files in particular, you'll probably find them over here in this project.

I'll make an attempt at linking the files here back to YouTube as well, but if you're not seeing those links, just go to my channel and dig around.

Hi @swolebro , I have build your THC. It seems to be working fine for the most just 1 thing is off. It displays wrong voltage. For example 11.0V instead of 110.0V. Do you have a sugestion what is wrong. Thanks

Lower Jig v3.0 Fitment Issues

After watching your video I noticed that the two side plates needed some minor adjustments... beveled the edges as you suggested but around the trigger pocket area there doesn't seem to be any clearance issues but more over the side plate thickness itself. Are the plates supposed to touch at the trigger area?
When putting the jig together is the drill guide to be flush with the back plate and same for the trigger pocket top plate? Reason I ask is there seems to be some alignment issues.
My lower is coated so I am thinking I am going to scribe out the trigger pocket and double check the placement vs the cad measurements. Did you have any issues in this area when you started?
My thanks for putting these plans up and taking the time to answer a few questions... total lifesaver that you will never truly know just how much so.

Cheers,
Chad.

Lower jig v3.2 Improvements

Some notes to myself on things to improve on the next version, based on my use of v3.1:

  • replace the thread notch with a simple "v" notch at each end for aligning the initial scribing template (via precision eyeballing)
  • change the spacing/sizing on the pocket pre-drill template to be less ambitious
  • either develop a second set of side plates for full-size holes, or maybe some sort of bushing system for them
  • give the milling template a flat sidewall section prior to starting the loft (would make alignment by feel easier)
  • make the amount of offset between the blueprint pocket dimensions and the template pocket configurable (currently 0.000", but 0.003" would probably be good)
  • adjust the offset of the trigger slot template to match the above
  • some offset for the trigger slot template from the bottom of the pocket
  • a relief on the slide plate trigger area for clearing when milling out the trigger slot

Maybe's:

  • printed buffer tube adapter
  • maybe slots for drop-in nuts, rather than threading the printed parts

Connect to MACH3

Hi!
I just made your sketch! It works very well, but it does not give the commands to MACH3. I suppose that is a Mach3 problem, the command appears in MACH3 in "Diagnostics" menu, but there have no reaction in axis z as response to these commands (UP/DOWN). Have You any ideea how to set up MACH3? Or maybe another user that follow your sketch have any idea, how to do the right way?

Thanks in advance!

try to communicate this way instead of YouTube

@swolebro So I have tried to write this like 7 times in YouTube which for some reason will not post this.. Crazy how terrible YouTube is when it comes to comments. I tried to Fork the github and make comments as I went. I was hoping you could see all that... https://github.com/bluestang123/swolebro-youtube https://github.com/bluestang123/swolebro-youtube/pulls I did request a pull request from you but I really have no idea what I am doing as I am learning GITHUB as well for the first time. I do plan on posting all my code, ini, hal, 3d prints etc. on GITHUB so that everyone can use what they need. I want to give back as much as I can to the community that made it possible for me to make a machine in my garage. I will change the code beginning notes in the code right now. Thanks again for all your work!!! I haven't tested this on a live plasma yet of course and I still need to make an enclosure for the parts I put together hardware wise.. But honestly that is a much easier task then starring at a bunch of code you have no idea what it does lol... I can model in cad way better then I can code today anyways. Great videos though!! Really helped me work through what all I did wrong and how I eventually got to the right stuff displayed!! I am not sure if this is the best place to communicate with you but I hope this at least get's to you.
