unix_rid_capture's Introduction

Steve Jack

My day job is engineering instrumentation and control systems for petrochemical plants.

Most of the stuff that I post on here is related to my hobby of flying radio controlled model aircraft.

Be aware that I may leave this site if github try to push two-factor authentication on me.

unix_rid_capture's Issues

Source of sniffer_coded.dongle.hex

I notice that this repo has some kind of custom sniffer firmware for nRF52840 in the file sniffer_coded.dongle.hex. I'm a little hesitant to run some opaque firmware blob from an unknown source on my own nRF52840 so I'm wondering where this firmware came from. Did you create this? Is this from some third-party source? Is the source code for the firmware available somewhere?

Question on DJI Visibility

Steve,

I have a question. DJI recently released a firmware upgrade for my DJI Mavic 2 pro to enable remote id in the US. I downloaded, compiled and followed the run instructions for your application. It seems to be running but I do not see any output when I get the drone up and running. I checked the debug files as well and there is zero output. By any chance have you tested this will a DJI drone? Any thoughts on trouble shooting. I trying to confirm the remote id it is working properly.

setup for BlueZ scanner

Hello,

I am wondering if you have any more information on the setup of a BLUEZ scanners (I am using a AX200 chip) and can't seem to get settings correct to detect a Spektrum SkyID (SPMA9500).

How to upload the sniffer_coded.dongle.hex into the nRF52840

Hi, sorry for my little to none experience on the nRF52840 dongle, but is not 100% clear to me which could be the fastest/simplest way to upload your suggested firmware in the nRF52840 dongle. Could you give me some hints?
The reason why I am not receiving any BT5 messages even if I compiled the code selecting set(nrf_sniffer 1) and set(bluez_sniffer 0) is due to the missing sniffer firmware ?

thx

Wifi channel jump

What do you think about adding a function that allows you to scan all wifi channels? and which automatically switches the wifi to monitor mode?

do you think this is possible?

thank you

Recommendations for bluetooth hardware

The readme states:

Probably won't receive Bluetooth 5 advertising without external hardware.

I'm having trouble figuring out what hardware should be used for the Blutooth 5 / BlueZ capture method. Since RID uses LE coded PHY and extended advertisements I assume that a random Bluetooth adapter probably won't work. Are there any specific Bluetooth dongles that you have tested and/or would recommend?

Starting Monitoring process

Hi Steve,

I believe I have replicated your installation, how do I start the monitoring process please and what should i be seeing as an output.

Currently have Ubuntu installed on a RaspPi4 with an AC1200 Alpha card.

Many thanks
