tick's Issues

Tap Tempo on Mac registering too slow

When I tap the tempo in the stand-alone Mac app using trackpad, it sets the tempo too slow. If I tap in a different app, it's accurate, so I don't think I'm just a lame tapper. :-)

The Tick Metronome cannot be opened

Hello, thanks for designing such good software, about Apple macOS 10.14.6 system, what is the reason why I can't run on this system, but I really need this software, my computer does not support higher systems, is there any way, please.
Thank You.

Flash On Beat Feature Request

I think that instead of a pink bar moving from left to right on each beat a simple quick flash on the beat would be a lot more effective for timekeeping.

can't mute in Studio One

I sometimes mute the TICK track in many DAWs to temporarily turn off the sound for pure playback.

For some reason, I'm worried that only Studio One has to deactivate the plug-in instead of muting the track. Other MIDI sound sources that are played by VSTi are properly muted by track mute. I don't know the cause.

Linux preset folder

Hi!

There are two issues actually.
TICK looks for presets in the /opt/Tal Aviram/TICK/Presets/ folder, while TICK's deb installer puts them in the /opt/TICK/Factory that's why it doesn't see preset folder at the start.

In Linux using /opt/ is very optional. The right way is to place Factory presets in the /usr/share/TICK (it's read-only dir for users) and use ~/.config/TICK or ~/.local/share/TICK for user presets. I know it could take additional work, but it will make Linux users more happy :)

Pro Tools issue: negative bar numbers and feature request

Hi Tal, firstly thank you for creating such a brilliant alternative to the limited click included with PT.

Firstly, I must point out that if you have negative bar numbers in a session, TICK does not play ball until you get to bar one. Negative bar numbers are useful for count-offs etc, and to make sure your session and the song match bar numbers with a score.

Secondly, automation beyond the filter, gain and bypass would also be incredibly useful. I understand that time sig changes etc could be handled by using multiple instances of TICK, but to have it all in one plugin would be great.

Keep up the good work, it is a fantastic plugin!

Many thanks,

Mark

Feature Request: MIDI Control and Presets

Hi,

Great plugin and app! Thanks for putting this out into the world.

The killer feature for me, which is missing from all metronome apps that I know of, would be the possibility to start/stop and select different tempo/time signature presets via MIDI CC.

Does that sound interesting?

Migrate to CMake

JUCE already provides CMake support which is more standardized than Projucer.
With switching to CMake it'll be easier to:

  • Have additional dependencies
  • Manage entire build scripting easier
  • Improve Linux building and also cross-compiling
