As LineageOS dropped the support of su to root the device in the upgrade to 17.1, it can happen that if you give netswitch root access to manage mobile data, after the upgrade, the mobile data is turned off and there is no way to turn it on again. I have solved by reinstalling but a notice for other users when installing the app could be helpful.

A long awaited very small widget, faster than any menu - thank you!

But;

• on a normal phone the mobile data switch displays "red/disconnected" all the time
• on a normal phone the mobile data switch doesn't work because "lack of root rights"

On a rooted phone the mobile data switch displays the state at the time the widget was installed and only works and changes the icon when given root access.

Could it be modified into a widget working without root?

Expected behavior

The widget works to switch data and WiFi on and off, the WiFi switch works well, but the data switch which requires root access should also work when root access has been provided.

Actual behavior

After giving root access to the widget, the data switch crashes the widget once clicked, thus leaving the widget unresponsive to further use.

How to reproduce

Download Netswitch app from fdroid store.

On the launcher homescreen, navigate to widgets.

Select Netswitch and add to homepage.

Grant root access.

Click the data switch button.

Widget crashes and stays unresponsive.

• Widget: Netswitch (latest version on fdroid)
• Operating system: Android 5.1 Lollipop tablet
• Root access: Kingroot
