state-of-the-bay's Issues

Rename Nekton Index tab to 'Fisheries'

I think that's more user friendly, will also provide additional text suggestions later

I don't think "Tampa Bay" is necessary for any of the tabs, that should be a given.

broken data links

Smartsheet references to Comms metrics (social media, tarpon tag, etc.) and bay mini grant metrics are no longer valid and data cannot be updated for 2023. We need to discuss how this info is imported from smartsheet for SOB reporting.

datraw <- get_sheet_as_csv('Comms. Metrics Sheet') %>%

bmgraw <- get_sheet_as_csv('Bay Mini-Grant_Budget Index') %>%

review give a day

Now that the draft pages are complete, please review them for any final edits that may be needed, including text, graphics/tables, and layout... this is the final round of edits before it goes "live". Things to consider:

  • Does the text make sense? Are there any errors that need to be corrected?
  • How do the graphics/tables look? Do they send a simple, high-level summary appropariate for the SOB? Are there other graphics that we could add?
  • Is the layout ok (e.g., presentation of ideas, section labels, pictures to include, graph sizing , etc.)?

Giving seagrass a higher profile

Since seagrass is one of our primary resources of concern, I think it may need its own tab, probably under Thriving Habitat & Wildlife.

Definitely would need to incorporate the transect dashboard & SWFWMD biannual data.

A lot of the info that should be on that page is also available on the Water Atlas site - https://www.tampabay.wateratlas.usf.edu/seagrass-monitoring/

Happy to discuss later, this just occurred to me and I didn't want to lose that train of thought in the midst of BASIS.

Critical habitat link request

Potential changes, ideas for SOB updates

Placeholder ideas for updates to web page:

  • Does the web site click analytic need to come from another source (#37)?
  • Add seagrass transect data as new page or in existing?
  • Do we need to update the reach index to match what's in the board packets?
  • Any social science indicators yet?

Expression of loss in habitat section

I think it's because of the table the data is pulling from, but the negative symbol ("-") is unnecessary if the term "loss" is also applied. This occurs in a couple of places in the doc and idk how to correct it w/o fouling up the links.

Current Trends, paragraph 1, line 31: "...3) the -39% loss in native upland habitats from 1990 to 2020."

Current Trends, paragraph 4 (below subtidal table), line 41: "...lands and -21% loss for restorable lands ..."

Automate reporting here

This sentence is ripe for integrated R code to automate updates.

The current assessment period (2018) indicates that twelve creeks had a "Prioritize" score, nine had a "Investigate" score, four had a "Caution" score, and 54 had a "Monitor" score. The remaining 148 creeks in the Tampa Bay watershed had insufficient data for the current assessment period to assign a category.
