Pull FCOS image

coreos-installer download -s stable -p qemu -f qcow2.xz --decompress -C .

Generate ignition file

podman run --interactive --rm \
quay.io/coreos/butane:release \
--pretty --strict < fcos.bu > fcos.ign

Install packages

$ sudo rpm-ostree install kubelet kubeadm kubectl cri-o     # control plane
$ sudo rpm-ostree install kubelet kubeadm cri-o             # compute

Create cluster from clusterconfig.yml

kubeadm init ––config clusterconfig.yml

Configure kubectl on the control plane

mkdir -p $HOME/.kube
sudo cp -i /etc/kubernetes/admin.conf $HOME/.kube/config
sudo chown $(id -u):$(id -g) $HOME/.kube/config

Pod networking with kube-router

kubectl apply -f \
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cloudnativelabs/kube-router/master/daemonset/kubeadm-kuberouter.yaml

Join token and instructions

kubeadm token create –-print-join-command

Test deployment

kubectl create deployment test --image nginx --replicas 3
