pyasc's Introduction

python for an All Sky Camera

This project describes not only the set up of the camera and associated software on the connected computer, it also helps you set up a server, and associated python code to perform some image processing. Lots of example scripts and image inventory logs are kept here as well.

Our currrent camera in the Maryland All Sky Network (and the Haiti All Sky Camera, HASC, as well) is an Oculus all sky camera from Starlight Xpress (http://www.sxccd.com/oculus-all-sky-camera; available in the US through http://www.optcorp.com/starlight-xpress-oculus-all-sky-camera.html). Most of our cameras use the 180 degree lens, though we have one 150 degree lens to experiment with the finer resolution. FITS images are 1392 x 1040 in size, where the full sky (180 or 150 degrees) covers 1040 pixels.

github pages for this project are here.

pyasc's Issues

dangling indi_setprop on RP3

When sx_ccd has been called many times in a loop during a night of integration, many instances of indi_setprop seem to be dangling. Load is high. Could be related.

The sx_setup calls indi_setprop twice, but sx_ccd calls it many times. The process table is full of indi_setprop. Do they need to be killed manually?

sx_ccd for RP3

The sx_ccd script for the RP3 seems to occasionally missing an integration. sometimes even several in a row. There is already a sleep time introduced. Could be there is more needed?

regions.db location/permissions

Currently two versions of regions.db are present, the www/tagger/db is the live one with write permission.
This needs to be sorted out if we're using SQLite (working) or mysql (not quite working).
