FFXIV TexTools

TexTools is a FFXIV Modding Framework for both mod creation and use/installation.

It was originally created by Liinko in 2016, but has since been greatly updated and extended by the TexTools Github Group.

You can download TexTool Installer from the Releases Page.

System Requirements

Technical Notes

  • The installer will attempt to install the most common missing dependencies.
  • Most mods are intended for the DX11 client, requiring a 64bit Windows install.
  • There are possible issues with Rivatuner Statistics Server 7.2.2 and older following a Windows update that has changed Windows D3D runtime files.
    • Update to latest MSIAB or standalone RTSS release.
  • Nahimic OSD is known to cause GUI corruption, this is a flaw in Nahimic itself and affects all WPF applications to some degree or other.
    • Nahimic v3 1.8.6 and later is reported to resolve the issue, this will be obtainable from your Mainboard, or Audio device vendor in their respective sound software.
  • Microsoft OneDrive based user profiles can cause files saved into the default location to be reverted.
    • You can either exclude this folder from the OneDrive interface, or change the Modpacks, Index(Backups) and Saved locations to another folder from the customise screen.
  • Regions currently on 5.5x will experience issues using versions of TexTools updated for Global 6.0
    • Using an older, or custom version of the current client is the only Workaround.

WARNING

We do not support the use of Textools from, or with application directories placed inside a Onedrive folder, This includes the default User Profile folder created if users blindly click through the first time wizard on a new Windows install.

  • These services can cause backup files, and mods themselves to revert or only partially synchronise, resulting in file corruption.
  • In other cases, files are not able to be loaded at all because the one drive service has been disabled or uninstalled, in this case a big error message that includes the line "Cloud File Provider is not running." to be thrown when attempting to import, export or create packs.

BUG report:Textools 2.3.4.17 Fatal errors

The start over function of FFXIV Textools 2.3.4.17 will cause serious errors after the release of 5.31 patch on Chinese servers on January 5!Executing the start over function of version 2.3.4.17 will cause the file 040000.win32.dat0 to be wrongly overridden, resulting in model loss and other problems

Textures Tab: Missing Hair Texture Listings

In the Texture Viewer, a number of races are missing texture listings for hair meshes:

The textures load in the Model Viewer and export as intended.

At a glance, the affected numbers are between, and excluding, 61 and 201 for the following races:
Hyur Highlander M/F
Elezen M/F
Roegadyn M/F
Lalafell M/F
AuRa M/F (AuRa M has no hair numbers over 201)

Miqote M - between 114 and 201 affected
Miqote F - between 115 and 201 affected

Flashing on G-SYNC monitor when TexTools is in focus.

If you have fullscreen and windowed G-SYNC enabled, when using TexTools, the monitor flashes very irratically because of a low framerate. Having an option in the settings to up the framerate of the program to 60 or higher fps would solve this issue.

Unable to use one of the features

I've noticed that TexTools got the feature for destination item selection on import since patch 2.3.3.10. But I didn't make it when I try to find the button or something else that allows me to do such works. Would anyone be so kind as to tell me how to make convertion on importing?

[Feature Request] Add dye options

Hey, I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but I was trying to find a way to customize what dyes are applied to an item in the viewer and in the export but couldn't find one.

There seems to be a setting called DyeColors in CustomModelColors in the modding framework but as far as I can tell it's completely unused. I know this is probably not a priority at all but is there any hope of getting this attribute in the CustomModelColors struct implemented?

Integrated Colorset Editor

We could use an addition of some kind of basic integrated colorset editor, just so that new users aren't forced to download the colorset editor java application to do basic colorset edits.

This should only be an extension of existing functionality, not replace current DDS export/import methods.

This can also take advantage of now known math relating to how the colorset and materials are used in order to provide visual displays of what the sub-material tiling will look like.

[Feature] Music index swap

This was a feature from XIV explorer, which allow to reference the index of another music of the game for the music of our choosing, which allow thing like changing trial mount music for any phase of said trial, or anything we want.
But now it's been discontinued and I think that would be a really nice feature to have on textools since it's all about moding the game.

Im not even sure what to label this error

Version problem

Hola,
I am a Chinese FFXIV player. I forgot to uninstall textools mod before a game update.
After I re-install the textools, the file started to report errors: An item with the same key has already been added.
Win10 system.
I've tried to reload FFXIV and textools. It's still report errors.

Then I installed 2.3.4.18 version, and reload FFXIV.

An error occurred while attempting to rebuild the cache. This may be caused by this version of Final Fantasy XIV not being supported by this version of TexTools.

An item with the same key has already been added.

How can I solve this problem?

Nameless I/O disk error

Hello there! I dropped a message regarding this issue in the discord, but I figured it would be worthwhile to make a thread here with the error messages too. So, long story short;
Since early this afternoon I've been experiencing a bug out of nowhere, after enabling a mod downloaded off the archive, and the only message I get when trying to import a modpack, reset the cache, or start over entirely is this;

I wasn't able to find a fix or solution anywhere online. Like anyone with half a brain, I have already uninstalled/reinstalled the program, done a complete purge, ensured that the wizard was looking for the game in the right directory, etcetera. I wouldn't be filing a report if I hadn't exhausted all other options.
Frankly I'm just confused, because I wasn't having any issues at all until now.

Cant look at mounts/minions & similar

So i can open and look at Equip just fine but when i try search up a mount or minion to work on a texture or color it doesnt load them up at all.

Allow backup to preserve original metadata of installed mods

(feature request) Hi, came across an issue recently where backups removed metadata (mod authors, names, etc) at the time of backup. I took a look at the generated mpl file and it's filled with many lines of Backup Name and author TexTools User (or whatever is set).

Related feature request would be, at backup import time, to keep all mods separate instead of under the Backup Name/TexTools User umbrella. If the metadata is preserved, there might be a way to write the .mpl file to also import as a bunch of separate packages, too.

TexTools FFXIV errors (3-13-2021).txt

Attached is a copy of the error messages I received, which I've never seen before in all the time I've used TexTools. I tried out a body mod temporarily, so before I did that, I saved all my mods (I have/had a lot of them) and used a very long name for the modpack to make it easily identifiable from numerous backups before this one in particular. After seeing that it wasn't for me, I chose to Start Over and then went to reload my saved Modpack -- which saved without any issues beforehand. Then I get this extremely long list of errors, which I don't understand.

[Feature Request] Add the ability to select multiple elements in the mod list

Hi, I've just encountered a situation where this feature would've been very useful.

I've installed the HD icon pack plugin and several other mods, and needed to make a backup modpack for an update. Creating a backup modpack doesn't keep the original modpack structure, which means I can only delete/disable mods on a per-file basis. I now want to delete the HD Icon Pack to prepare for the 5.5 patch, but I can't do this easily as this mod is comprised of thousands of unique files since the modpack structure is lost.

It would've been super useful if I could select all of the files in the UI section with shift+left click, and batch delete all of the selected files.

[Feature Request] Treat opening modpacks/.ttmp2 files as using the "Import Modpacks" option

I'd like to request that opening/launching a modpack be treated the same way as using the "Import Modpacks" option within textools when textools is already open as an adjustment to the program closing itself. If I've got textools open in order to check a model already it's really inconvenient to have it close, import the mod and then have to re-open textools again afterward and go back to where I already was. I thought this was necessary until realizing the import modpacks option can do this and it'd be convenient for this to be the case when opening a modpack as well.

Eqp offset issue?

After updating, it will no longer let me install natis mani pedi megapack which fixes all hands and feet in game. Ive tried uninstalling, completely starting over, installing old versions etc etc. nothing seems to fix this issue. It keeps saying something about an issue with equipment offset and installs nothing. ive been able to pick and choose 1 or 2 things and it installs just those fine, but if i select a bunch or even a handful it gives me this error and installs nothing. whats the cause/fix for this?

Modpack Overhauls

Parts of this enhancement are dependent upon TexTools/xivModdingFramework#4 and TexTools/xivModdingFramework#5 being completed first.

The Modpack system should be reworked into four types, that match the four use cases users actually use them for.

  1. Backup Modpacks
    • Target Use Case - User or System initiated backup or restores.
    • These should automatically back up all active mods, and in their modpack data should maintain/store the original modpack names/structures the items came from, so that data is not lost on re-import.
    • Filenames should be automatically generated/dated, and the backups placed in a /Modpacks/Backups/ folder. Should have a simple 'Backups Browser' interface that shows the date/time the modpack was made, and maybe a note & # of mods in it.
  2. Standard Modpacks
    • Target Use Case - Novice/Mid Level Mod Authors wishing to create mods for an item without having to understand the entire item tree. Should guarantee everything looks the same on an end user's machine as it does on the author's.
    • These modpacks should walk the dependency tree to include all the files necessary to ensure a given item ends up appearing in exactly the same way on the destination system. This should include dummy [UseDefault] entries that ensure the various parts on the client system are reverted back to Default files if they are currently modified during install.
    • Selection at the user level would be as simple as just Selecting the item they want, then a dialog displaying all the other "items" that will be pulled along with it.
    • Possibly include an end user toggle that lets them disable the [Use Default] flag triggers, if they wish to intentionally compose mods together.
  3. Basic Modpacks
    • Target Use Case - Simple modifications to lay ontop of the existing item, regardless of its modded or unmodded state, such as Normal Map edits to things.
    • Should present the user with the full list of modified files & injections (either in a tree view or full list view or whatever), and let them piecewise select only the ones they want.
    • Most non-equipment modifications such as Skin and UI modifications would fall in this category.
  4. Advanced Modpacks
    • Target Use Case - Advanced modders wishing to create customized installers.
    • Uses the existing Modpack Wizard format, but interface for selecting files gets updated.
    • Allow for a [UseDefault] flag to forcefully disable mods in a slot.
    • Change current file browser to be a smarter tree structure for understanding dependencies.
      • Add a [Add with all child files] button that tree-walks down to include all dependent files.
    • Allow for blank group entries with no files in them.
    • Allow group entries to specify a specific page number they should then direct to, if selected.
      • This would allow for creating proper installer trees.

All modpack installs should end in a standardized screen showing total # and size of files to be installed, with option to expand the view and selectively disable individual files if desired for advanced users.

[Feature Request] Show how much space current mods are taking up

Given we have a "soft limit" of mods, and TexTools shows an error when you attempt to go beyond this limit. It might be nice to show the current space taken up mods versus the current soft limit to make easy to see how much space we have left for mods when installing.

Hyur Midlander Female face model 5 won't show up

Hyur Midlander Female Face Model 5 is gone in game (As in completely invisible) and if I try and open the model in textools it gives me an error box saying the following:

**Failed to update the viewport.

There was an error reading texture data at offset 53670480.

Any mod on the 3D model will be disabled.**

The error box can't be closed because the model is still trying to load behind it so I have to force close textools entirely every time. Every mod is disabled and it's still happening.

Can't make an advanced modpack with UI elements

I looked to see if this was a known issue but couldn't find anything. sorry if I missed it somewhere

using version 2.3.5.5 of textools. I am using lumina/penumbra for mods (though the bug occurs whether the 'redirect to lumina' checkbox is ticked or not). so i have no mods in the game's dat files, only through penumbra atm and 'check for problems' finds zero mods installed and all green check marks.

I go to create an advanced modpack. add an option. add a group named test. in the item list I can select a piece of gear, a mount, or a housing item without issue. but as soon as I click on any item in any subcategory under the UI category, three error boxes appear with the third seeming to have the same info as the first two plus additional info:

Cannot load gear?

Don't know if I'm being a noob or if something is genuinely wrong. Every time I try to preview an item, it loads for a brief second before the following error appears:

I can't open any hair files

Whenever I try to open hair previews (character->hair->any race/npc/ect,) it gives me an immediate error message.

Mods not working

so ive downloaded the mods and have the game on dx11 but the mods arent showing up. ive had a friend try to help me but nothing worked.

Hello... I am with the latest version of the FFXIV, and the latest version of textools, 2.3.4.19, but show the error below, in the start at rebuilding...

Material Editor Needs a 'Allow Decals' Toggle

The material editor needs a new setting to allow or disallow decals. This has been set to always on since sometime in 2.3.x to fix issues with decals not showing up, however, this causes issues with materials on Face meshes, because SE pipes in the face paint decals into all available materials, regardless of their shader type. This causes Standard Shader additions to Face models to be influenced by Face paint as if the face paint was a black-and-white mask.

Why was Mod Conversion removed from TexTools?

Previously people were able to change the base of the mod if they did not like which item the mod creator had chosen to it but now that option is nowhere to be seen in the current version.

There were errors importing some mods.

An error occured when attempting to expand the metadata entries.

Receiving an error whenever I load a new mod.

"Apply Deformation Shapes" ignored in FMV and export

Hi! I'm unsure if this is intended behavior or not but I've noticed that, when applying deformation shapes on a model (Hrothgar face in this case), the changes are completely ignored when opening the model in the FMV or when exporting it.

Am I missing something or is this functionality not supported? I joined the discord server but could not find anyone asking the same question.

I am using TexTools v2.3.4.19.

Ability to disable/enable multiple selectable mods at once

It would be nice to be able to select multiple mods in the mod list at once and perform a batch enable/disable on only those selected.

Would make life easier when debugging mods or adding a new mod that might have impacts on a previously installed mod and avoid having to reinstall a bunch of mods afterwards

Penumbra "Redirect imports to Lumina" Option Addition

I'm wondering If its possible if this option is checked since Its not going to overwrite files the way textools does and instead import them thru Lumina ways if it be possible to not have to close out of the game (you know the "please exit before yada yada" popup. This would allow us to be more selective on what parts of mods we want to install while utilizing this new feature to its full potential.

[Feature Request] Show a prompt during a mass import when one mod would overwrite another

When installing multiple ttmps at once, it imports them all one after the other which is great. Though it might be nice to show a prompt when another mod is already active that the current install would overwrite.

Could be a prompt asking if the user "wants to overwrite the existing active mods?" and have the option of Yes to All, Yes, No or something along those lines

Graphical corruption in menu and list text

x86_64, Windows 10 is up to date as of 21-07-14. Nvidia 2070 Super running 471.11 (latest). Both the stable 2.3.5.10 and the current 2.3.6.0 beta tested.

When I mouseover entries in the menu and in the drop-down item lists, the text often disappears as the cursor leaves them. Rebooting does not solve it. See attached clip.

I haven't been playing for a while so I don't know when this started, sadly.

Database Disk Image is malformed

This Error "Database Disk Image is Malformed" keeps popping up everytime i load up the tool. and somehow cuz of this error, i am unable to upload/import any other mod packs to have fun with. Why is this happening?

Lumina Directory error

when i start textools and it want to create the cache. i get an error message that says: "Unable to save Lumina settings, invalid Lumina directory." Where can i set the Lumina directory?

unable to restore index backups

it keeps saying "would you like to restore your index backups?" then if i click either of them it says "Unable to restore Index Backups, shutting down TexTools." then if i try start the game it says...

it wont let me delete and reinstall or open TexTools back up
