BrewLAN

BrewLAN is a mod for Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance that has been in on and off development by a team of one for nearly a decade. It adds a wide variety of new units for all factions, as well as offering several new game modes and features. The core design goals for the mod are simple; to add new, interesting, and visually aesthetic units which complement those already in existence and to maximize technical compatibility with other mods. Tech 1 Buildings

-Clicking on the Tech 1 Building crashes my game
-Tech 1 units are invisible once built

thats' about as far as i got

Items are installed properly from what i read on "How-To"
-Un-Zipped in Mods Folder
-Sound Files in Sounds Files
-Gameplay Files in Gameplay Files

Crash at the 20-35 minute mark FAF

I get a near 100% of the time crash when playing this mod with FAF at the aforementioned range of time. Here are some things i collected i don't know what you would want so a grabbed a lot of different files

New-old issue

Crash bug still exists, roughly an hour into a game (play time not game time), CTD. Didn't have any experimentals fielded but several unique BrewLAN units like anti-armor PD, T3 torp launchers, Arty Defense Grid, Field engys.

Several broken units

Specifically:

The Seraphim and Aeon experimental shield generators and the T3 Omni Sensor for the cybran never stop exploding when killed, making matches never end
may be other units with similar issues

Tech1 Field Engineers gun not functioning

Noticed on newest build that Wally's are not shooting enemy units. They did in the old build I had from a couple months ago, I know that FAF has been updated since as well so between the mod and the game something got disabled or changed on that.

Unhandled Exception

Hi there,

forgive me if this is the wrong thread for this particular issue. I just signed up for GitHub and thought this would be the appropriate channel to post the error I ran into.

First of all I want to thank you for you efforts with this mod. Recently I discovered that you've been improving your mod for awhile now (I only knew about the out-dated FAF- and Moddb-Versions of it) and got the newest version of it via GitHub.

Sadly, almost every game I start with your mod enabled sooner or later crashes :-(
I already figured it must be your mod, disabled everything else. I start the game via the FAF-Launcher. Will test it without FAF soon.

I have no idea of programming, so I guess I'll just post the log of the recent crash in here. If you need different infos like system specs or ingame preferences, please let me know.

Experimental Icons

Had a break for a bit. Started playing again last night. Noticed that with the Experimental Icons Overhaul the icon in mod manager is blank, to which is says it would be then improperly installed. I checked, its in the gamedata folder.

I think I recall looking into this a while back and noticed that its possible its a case problem, ie the callout was capitalized and the file name was lower case or something to that effect. Was a couple months ago I noted that but at the time forgot about it to post.

Seraphim Aezhou T3 Sonar Platform issue

Unable to build the Seraphim T3 Sonar Platform. The icon appears in the build menu, and no information appears when you hover the mouse pointer over it; unlike other unit/building icons that do. This problem only appears in FAF. Seems to work ok in the Steam version. Not running any other mods for test purposes. I only use your latest GitHub versions. This has been an issue for some months. The problem also existed before the latest FAF patch.

Installation for FAF?

Hi @The-Balthazar, do you have any plans to package up and submit BrewLAN 0.8.9 (or whatever is the latest) to Forged Alliance Forever? I see you submitted a mod in the past, but it looks not to have been updated in some time (early 2019).

If not, what's the expected installation mechanism for FAF? Is it different from the base game?

Compatibility with other mods or game versions

I have seen some of these answers on your moddb comments section but I can't remember them and the answers may have changed. I good place to put this would be here on github so if something breaks at sometime you (or a pull request) can update it here.

Another thing you should do is edit your moddb BrewLan description and download description to point to here as the one hosted on moddb is quite outdated, or if it is so old git BrewLan from github instead. That way you will point people here less on the from the moddb comments, and debug less issues from an outdated BrewLan:)

In game icons not showing

Hello!
Firstly, thank you for all your hard work and hours of entertainment.

I installed BrewLan a few months back and it was all working perfectly. I did a fresh install to give LOUD a try, but having played BrewLan as a standalone I much preferred that. So I again did a totally fresh install and installed the latest update 0.8.9.9

This time when booting up the game, none of the in game icons are present like before. I just see the blue square with the generic "In progress" text.

I don't remember needing another mod for the icons on my first install, have I done something wrong? I installed via Zip, simple drag and merge using WinRAR. All folder roots are as they should be and every other aspect of the mods work perfectly - just no icons.

Brewlan V81 doesn't seem to function properly with FAF

I'm not sure if this is a Brewlan issue or a FAF issue, but when you download it from the mod vault, it doesn't seem to recognise the mod as downloaded

The title of the mod doesn't turn green like every other mod does when you click 'download' and whenever you boot a FAF game with Brewlan activated it will force any players joining to re-download it despite those players already having the mod downloaded

It's like FAF isn't recognising the directory or something properly

Glad to see still active

I noted the log files added. Just finished an upgrade of my gaming machine etc here, finally back in the saddle (power surge last year fried or partially borked all 3 of my best computers, been in various stages of repair).

In the file of planned/complete units, a few I noted.

Experimental UEF Point Defense - The Annihilator, that's the TA unit's name. Not a bad unit really, few of them and some Bertha's made for a nice hedgehog. Thing is, that Annihilator model exists in game now, its the upper part of the Harbinger almost to a "T".

I still think having the Seraphim Exp Arty toss modified Ulthouy (sp) would be a wicked dynamic in keeping with their tech. The pinwheel designed looks badass, just figured having it not actually perform like other races arty would keep variety.

Experimental Air Staging - Its either Blackops or Deep Blue Naval that had a good model for this. They had engineering stations, AA, shields and torps. If going for mobile, well Aeon's got the Czar, Blackops has the UEF Citadel.

I see you had the Engineering Boat idea as Tech 1, I'll have to reinstall and see how that looks (if that's been implemented).

Last I played, we still had crash issues with FAF Forged Alliance. The key problem with that conflict is most players playing the game, are going to be updated with FAF version as Steam etc direct them there.

Upgradeable structures double build

This bug is more of a game breaker. Seen it once a long time ago, this time its a bit more ubiquitous.

If you upgrade a Mex or Factory, it will upgrade to its Tech 2 but the Tech 1 building also remains in the same spot. You have to reclaim it to get the Factory to work, though the Tech 2 Mex appears to immediately effect production. Engineers who are pathing to upgrade Mexes in series will immediately re-upgrade the finished Mex, essentially costing you double the upgrade cost unless you stop them and reclaim the T1 Mex on the node.

I noted this, and restarted a game only with BrewLAN, BrewUI and Experimental Icons and can confirm its between the mod and the current FAF build.

Cannot activate

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Launch FA
2. activate blacops icon support
3. activate brewlan

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected the mod to activate, instead it says I have to have the blackops icon 
support mod as well, which i already have and have already activated

Issue with Sorian Adaptive AIx + Research & Daiquiris

Hey Balthazar,

I am playing around with the git version as it was on the 3rd.

I found that using Research & Daiquiris causes the AI to be unable to research/use anything beyond what is available in the tier 1 tab of the research facility. They can get to t2, which i suspect is only because t2 is the last thing you can access in the t1 tab and somehow the AI isn't able to use the second tab's functionality.

I ran a test with just the advanced ai mod, base brewlan, and research and daiquiris with two sorian adaptive aix's pitted against each other. After 30 minutes, neither were able to build anything beyond t2 with 2.0 cheat and build speed modifiers.

I ran another test with my very exhaustive mod list (24 sim + 1ui mod) without research and daiquiris. This time the AI had several t3 buildings before the 20 minute mark.

Just wanted to make sure you had tabs on this issue.

Some suggestions:

Suggestion 1:
Waterlag: Add foundation to defensive structures that buildable on land and with following variable:

Physics.MaxGroundVariant = 50
Physics.FlattenSkirt = false

and disable tamacs to make it a bit more realistic imo.
I think I will call it CliffLag for now.

---------------- Removed suggestion 2 because the issue is somewhat hard to replicate despite the requirement for this issue is simple to satisfy. Will report more.

Terrain Overlay on new units (Screenshot attached)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Seams to be build any new unit (only tried with UEF admittedly)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I was some way into the game and the first thing I built was a heavy shield and 
noticed that it was placed on a red and black diagonal floor cover.

I proceed to build other new units and the same thing occurs. Not the end of 
the world as game still runs fine, just an FYI.

Was expecting things to be built on the terrain of the map but....

Research and Daiquiris Broken by latest FAF patch

Not sure if you are supporting the compatibility for FAF, but the latest patch that was pushed yesterday breaks it. Commander never gets spawned into the game if you run the module.

Let me know if you need any other info.

T3 Aeon Transport reverts to T2 shape when zoomed at certain length

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play Aeon and build T3 Tranport.
2. Zoom out about halfway. Keep playing with the zoom until the symptoms  
listed below occur.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
T3 Aeon Transport shows shape of T2 transport and matching unit shadow. But, 
zoom in or out one more notch, and it goes back to normal T3 shape and shadow.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.4 beta on Windows 7.

Invalid unit descriptions

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Play SupCom: FA Skirmish game with this mod enabled
2. Played as UEF
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Unit descriptions can be mismatched. Hover the mouse over a unit icon to view 
the unit description. Seemed more prevalent on vanilla units that their 
descriptions were for another unit.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

BREWLAN MOD causes the FAF game to crash around 15min

I tried brewlan on FAF and the latest versions on MODDB and GitHub, and the game crashed. This crash occurs almost every time between 15-25 minutes on a 20km map. When crash occurs, some game units will have texture errors, and some of brewlan's mod unit maps will not load. When this happens, the game crashes in a matter of minutes. I tested these mistextured units and their textures were fine at the beginning of the game.

BrewLan / BlackOps Issue

Issue unresolved.
Installed earlier Github version of BrewLan that worked with FAF BlackOps v19

brew lan causes UEF experimentals to be invisible

sense installing the BREW LAN mod pack the UEF experimental units have all become invisible. it DOES NOT cause any gameplay issues other than not seeing the units and needing to track them with the map markers and the hail of fire from their guns when near the enemy.

is there a way to fix this or is the UEF just going to have a ghost army forever?

all other factions work 100% properly and the mod is a blast to run!

GPG doesn't seem to exist anymore. Can I still download the mod and use it?

GPG the site no longer seems to be running, is there another solution or can I 
still use the mod? Clicking on the link for the latest  global icon takes me to 
their topics page, but as I am currently noticing the site is either down for 
good, or the topics page just doesn't work. Can I still use the mod without the 
global icon?

Current build BrewLAN vs FAF not loading

Using only BrewLAN and BrewUI I start a game on the current FAF build and you get on the map, it has one mass point and no units. Seen this before with a lot of mods in a game, but I boilded it down to just BrewLAN and it persisted.
