I don't Have Any Knowledge about Ruby, But Felt the template amazing.. Please Help me Execute the template...

Adding liquid Jupyter Notebook .ipynb gist {% gist xxxx %} in posts

Thanks for the theme, loved it. This is specific to gists that are Jupyter Notebooks .ipynb (Tried liquid gist tagging {% gist xxxx %} in posts, returns a blank space. Am I missing something here? Please advise.

Followed steps given here : https://github.com/jekyll/jekyll-gist
-No luck

Example of a gist based on Jupyter Notebook : https://gist.github.com/vimaloctavius/1333b7ed39d03f5566c4c6cde8d21436
When I try to embed this, it doesn't display the gist

Linkedin and Github icons are not showing

although the usernames/parameters passed from the file config.yml are passed to the contact.html file, the icons are not showing. I guess it is related to font awesome icons!

  • The linkedin icon that is used at the moment is <i class="fab fa-linkedin"></i>
  • current icon in font awesome is <i class="fa-brands fa-linkedin"></i>

I tried to put the new code of the new icon but it did not show too!!

image paths for blogs is weird...

There seems to be an issue where blog images are looking in the wrong location (for files on local server, versus not linked external). I can't seem to find where the location is referenced in the template, but my hunch is that it should be simple one-line fix where the "blog" at the beginning of relative path should be removed.

It wants to look in

/blog/assets/images (if not specified at all, to put in the auto-image file), or
/blog/images/assets (if a relative image path is specified)

instead of just looking in

/assets/images

I am able to get my images to load properly by putting them in freshly created folder:

"blog/images/assets/myImage.jpg"

and referencing them in the blog post like:

post-image: "images/assets/myImage.jpg"

Square images are stretched when displayed in blog posts

I was using a 1200x1200 square image as the image for one of my blog posts. Although the image is displayed normally in the blog overview, it is stretched in the post itself.

Screenshot 2024-02-19 at 21-08-21 Chee Yan Jun Welcome to my Blog!

Is there a way I can change _layouts/post.html so the thumbnail displays properly no matter what the aspect ratio of the image is? Just like how it displays normally in the blog overview.

Nested Lists creates incorrect spacing/formating

When I create nested list items the list item above the nest list become expanded and is not formatted correctly.

See my attached image.
Screenshot 2021-03-01 001535

How can I fix this so when I nest list items the formatting doesn't get extended?

Syntax highlight not working

I'm wondering if any of the css stylesheets of this theme is overriding the default rouge syntax highlight, because even if it is specified in the _config.yml file, highlight is not applied on the website.

Can't run locally on linux?

It seems that this repository relies on sass-embedded 1.71.1, which has no installation candidate for linux targets:

Bundler::GemNotFound: Could not find sass-embedded-1.71.1-x86_64-linux.gem for installation

Is there a way to add a new social network emoji?

If I understood well, the html files get generated on the fly. Hence it is a bit complicated to add/edit the visuals on the page.

Can you help me please have a hand on that? Thank you in advance

Projects

Jekyll site CI / build (push) fails as part of Jekyll site CI Action

Hi,

I'm using your theme and I love it!

However, since a while I noticed that once I update files, some automatic checks are not successful afterwards.
Specifically, Jekyll site CI / build (push) fails. So far, I did not notice a severe impact on the theme itself, as the other three checks within the GitHub Actions Workflow Jekyll site CI run smoothly.

However, I would like to better understand this failure and hopefully find a way to fix it.
Tracing back the dates of my successful checks, I suppose there must have been some kind of version change 6-7 months ago.

Best
Fabian
