Is iec61850 Ethernet only?

Hello,

I was reading that IEC61850 is a protocol that is ethernet only and does not use TCP, UDP, or even IP (except to establish the communication channel) which would imply that it "could" be potentially MUCH faster than the standard TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols for communications.

Is this true?

If so, then I see that you have a Golang implementation and I would be interested to know if you had performed any benchmarking with it.
