aba-icc's Issues

ABA Policies on the ICC page

@budparr We forgot to include a section on ABA policies. I am compiling this information, but for the time being, it should have its own page in "About the Project" section...I think logically after the actual description of the Project, or maybe it should go elsewhere in that order. What do you think?

BoA titles

@budparr This is partly my fault bc it probably got confused with my multiple drafts. I have developed an easy key to how each person should be addressed.

Ambassador --> Hon.

Judge or Justice --> Hon.

Honorable Judge/Honorable Justice --> Hon.

Professor --> Prof.

Lietzau

@budparr Apologies in advance for these copy edits.

"Lt. Colonel William K. Lietzau"

take out his current position with PAE, and just put...

"Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense - Rule of Law and Detainee Policy (2010-2013)"

Greco Bio

@budparr Greco's bio needs to change to the shorter one, please. I will put on basecamp.

Sonnetmedia

@budparr I have not noticed a place where you say the website was designed by Sonnetmedia. You should put that up somewhere, unless you have a reason not to.

ICJT Blog

@budparr The basic idea is that ICJT needs fast-moving original content to discuss relevant issues in the field of ICJ. At present, the news aggregator, news and events feed, Arguendo, and Ipsos are great original and/or current news, but none of them are both original and current.

Further, such a blog will enhance our exposure, and thus, interest and donations to the cause of the ABA-ICC Project. A great example is Justice In Conflict, and what it has done for Mark Kersten's profile. http://justiceinconflict.org/

Organizationally, I do not want to further burden ICJT or clutter the screen so to speak. But I think we can create a very simple blog (even appoint certified bloggers a la Huffington Post) yet find a way for ICJT splash page to advertise it.

Timelines

@budparr As you have likely noticed, the timelines do not frame well into the space, but it appears they could be.

Default Image

@budparr I loaded onto Basecamp a default image of the ICC that may work better. Got it from Shutterstock

All Short Bios

@budparr All bios that have "United States" should be changed to "US". It saves space and it means we are consistent.

Revamp ICJT

Review earlier work and start to flesh that out

Posting New Material

@budparr When you have time, maybe walk me through what I am doing wrong on Prose.io. I am unable to create new events and edit the metadata of old ones.

Put up Contact Page

  • Kip to supply copy
  • Bud put up page

This will replace the current "follow" page and will include the mailing list signup.

PDF files

@budparr So for the ABA policies on the ICC, I would like the hyperlinks to be links to PDF files that have aba-icc.org web addresses. Can this be done?

Proven Practices

@budparr I do not know if Github is the best place to put this marker down for later work, but I was thinking that entries made in the Proven Practices should have Google Translate or like technology attached to it so it can be easily translated into different languages quickly. Funders would really like that.

BoA

PRIORITY: Please move Greco to the front of the line, so in front of Bassiouni.

Staff

PRIORITY! Please remove the staff page, put me in the end of the line as Christopher "Kip" Hale, Director of ABA-ICC Project, and reduce my photo to be just my torso and head.

Contact

@budparr Sam made a good comment that our contact information is nowhere on the site. Maybe on the homepage and about project page there should be our general contact information at the bottom of the page.

Events Redesign

@budparr When a good time, let's discuss re-design of the events cards. My concern is the following: chronological order/date showing is not clear; some unnecessary information; and not advertising enough important information.

Ipsos layout

@budparr Just to be clear, I hope re-design of ICTJ also includes re-design of Ipsos feature. Also, let's call this "Ipsos Polling Data"

Copy on BoA statement

Bud, do you think it should say "Statement from the Board"? Or how about "Statement from the Board of Advisors"? I think that last one sounds best, but I would like your opinion.

CHR

@budparr somewhere on the Project website we should have the ABA CHR logo and link to its page. The most logical spot is somewhere on the About the Project page. Let's think of where to put it.

Crane

@budparr

Take out "former" and just have his Sierra Leone title end with "(2002-2005)"

Right Bar

Particularly on the home page, the copy on the right bar is very jumbled and just a mish-mash. Would it be possible to put the twitter feed in a box, sponsors lower, and put a header on the short description copy of the Project?

Wald

@budparr Her short bio should read "Chief Judge fof the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit (1979 – 1999)" if it fits.

Update M Greco bio/info

  • Update bio
  • Please change on the “Board of Advisors” web site page the years of my ABA presidency to 2005-2006.
  • Please revert to the 4-minute version of the “Welcome to the Website” video.
  • Edit from the ICC-Kenya video the first 4 minutes -- viewers will not sit through 4 minutes of nothing happening.
  • Add to the” News and Events” video programs the April 10, 2014, program with Fatou and Richard Goldstone.

@kiphale - here's an example of an issue

Splash Image

@budparr So can the splash image be a link to Flickr? Otherwise, am I not just linking it to a file on my computer, or do I upload it into GitHub (which sounds like a silly question coming off of my tongue)?

Improve contrast of mobile contextual links

I was roaming on the new website for the ABA-ICC Project today. It is certainly very elegant. But for a senior citizen it is very difficult to manage. I do not know what Sandra Day O'Connor says and others who are more senior than I am. But at my age I am always looking for contrast. And the fact that there is only contrast with respect to the link where you put your cursor at e.g. http://www.aba-icc.org/the-aba-icc-project/project-staff/#menu-local means that there is no overview of all the items on the page. The blue font against the almost black background is almost invisible to me until I put the cursor there and the text becomes white. I have a feeling that designers are very young and want to make elegant designs with the result that more senior people are at a disadvantage. I just thought that I should give you this feedback. The contents once you get at it is fine!

Prose.io

@budparr I do not think it is allowing me to change the metadata on the events pages...trying to change the image on one of the events.

ICJT

My assumption is that you are playing around with ICJT, so I am remiss not to comment on it at present. However, were you still going to "fork" ICJT off? Have you changed your mind about that?

Home Page copy

For political reasons, need to change the copy on the top of the right bar.

"An independent initiative of the ABA to support the International Criminal Court & US-ICC relations through advocacy, education, and practical legal assistance."
