action-setup-vim's Issues

`input()` returns an empty string when Vim from vim-appimage is used

Describe the bug

It seems input() returns an empty string when Vim installed by vim-appimage is used. Probably it's not a bug but limitation or issue on vim-appimage side?

input (vim) ... input() ... returns user input text => ./denops_std/function/input_test.ts:17:17
error: AssertionError: Values are not equal.

How to reproduce the problem

It's a bit complicated because I've noticed this issue when running tests of denops_std but what the test does is

  1. au CmdlineEnter * call feedkeys("Hello world\<CR>", "t")
  2. echomsg input("")

Reporting a vulnerability

Hello!

I hope you are doing well!

We are a security research team. Our tool automatically detected a vulnerability in this repository. We want to disclose it responsibly. GitHub has a feature called Private vulnerability reporting, which enables security research to privately disclose a vulnerability. Unfortunately, it is not enabled for this repository.

Can you enable it, so that we can report it?

Thanks in advance!

PS: you can read about how to enable private vulnerability reporting here: https://docs.github.com/en/code-security/security-advisories/repository-security-advisories/configuring-private-vulnerability-reporting-for-a-repository

Support older NeoVim builds

Describe the bug

I'd like to build for neovim v0.2.0 but when forcing to build from source it fails. I've used a custom docker before based on Vimjas/vim-testbed and this repo is able to build successfully for v0.2.0.

How to reproduce the problem

strategy:
  matrix:
    vim_type: ['neovim']
    os: ['ubuntu-latest', 'macos-latest']
    include:
        vim_version: 'v0.2.0'
runs-on: '${{ matrix.os }}'
steps:
  - uses: 'actions/checkout@v2'
  - name: 'Setup Vim'
    id: 'vim'
    uses: 'thinca/action-setup-vim@v1'
    with:
      vim_version: '${{ matrix.vim_version }}'
      vim_type: neovim
  - name: 'Run test'
    run: |
      # Show Vim's version
      ${{ steps.vim.outputs.executable }} --version
      # ... run tests ...

Expected behavior

It should build successfully for v0.2.0

Actual behavior

It fails with an error at the make command.

Screenshots (If possible)

Additional context (If any)

TypeError: Cannot read property 'tag_name' of undefined

Thanks for making this project :)

I have a small vim plugin that I am trying to test on Github Actions. However, I am getting the following error about tag_name not being a property of undefined using this setup. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the README is using version to list things like stable and head and vim_version to list specific software versions such as v8.2.0000. However, the project's CI test file seems to do this the other way around. This prompted me to do it this way instead but without any luck.

I have marked this as a question rather than an issue since I am most likely not using the action correctly but I would advise a change in the README to clarify things if this is indeed a mistake.

Node 16 is deprecated

Describe the bug

Node 16 is deprecated and has to update to Node 20.

ref: https://github.blog/changelog/2023-09-22-github-actions-transitioning-from-node-16-to-node-20/

How to reproduce the problem

Always.

Expected behavior

This action is run on Node 20.

Actual behavior

A warning is displayed as follow:

Node.js 16 actions are deprecated. Please update the following actions to use Node.js 20: thinca/action-setup-vim@v1. For more information see: https://github.blog/changelog/2023-09-22-github-actions-transitioning-from-node-16-to-node-20/.
