pirate-stick's Issues

The desktop installer icon is wrong

It should be the same as on the mx-welcome page, white outline skull with transparent background.

I kludged a fix in ~/bin/setDefaults.bash file, but discovered the mx-snapshot tool replaces the minstaller.desktop file so proper fiix is update the Icon= setting in /usr/share/applications/minstaller.desktop.

This will be included in the forthcoming patch, PSIP1 (Pirate Stick Image Patch 1).

Logon keyring popup whenever Chromium browser is started

fix: add --password-store=basic to Exec line of .desktop launcher files
There are quite a few of them that require updating. They can be updated manually by
right clicking on the icon, selecting "edit launcher" and making the change in the editor.

This will be included in the forthcoming patch, PSIP1 (Pirate Stick Image Patch 1).

IPFS Search fails (several causes)

Cause #1 - default "maxWaitTime" setting too short (only 60 seconds)
fix: a) change the value in the tool's settings
b) update pboxSearch.json
recommended: set "cacheLife" (Metadata lifetime setting) to 24 hrs

Cause #2 - program logic failure in ~/bin/pBoxSearchDemo/ipfs.py
fix: update dbList in class constructor and "getDB" method in Ipfs class

These fixes will be included in the forthcoming patch, PSIP1 (Pirate Stick Image Patch 1).

WiFi networking slows or fails after starting but can be restarted

This problem needs further investigation.

Before establishing an Internet connection (with any method), make sure the create_ap service is disabled:
sudo systemctl disable create_ap
If a hotspot is desired this can be enabled in GUI (Pirate Box Tools--> Hotspot Control)
This issue may be related to the initial surge of IPFS traffic which does settle out. I also resolved by disconnecting Internet via WiFi and using the Hotspot Control Panel to verify the autostart (systemd unit) was disabled. I then reconnected via WiFi and Internet speed was normal.

Desktop & greeter background wrong

The fix is to update /etc files:
/etc/lightdm/mx21/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf
/etc/skel/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-desktop.xml
add pirateSkull.png symlink to /usr/share/backgrounds-->
/usr/local/share/images/pirateBoxLogo1280x800WhiteOn Black.png

This will be included in the forthcoming patch, PSIP1 (Pirate Stick Image Patch 1).

videoGrabber fails

The fix is to update ~/bin/videoGrabber/pbvg.bash file.

This will be included in the forthcoming patch, PSIP1 (Pirate Stick Image Patch 1).
