Working on a plugin for Paperclip I found an issue with the latest administrate from git. Once I had all the files and installed the plugin in my Rails app, administrate would look for the field views in paperclip_field and not just paperclip as app/views/fields/image suggests. I fixed it by renaming the directory from paperclip to paperclip_field. It might have been my mistake, I may have missed something, or maybe administrate looks into the views that way? I didn't really dig into administrate's code for this, but just a heads up.

It'd be really helpful to see a preview of an image when editing it.

Showing /usr/local/bundle/gems/administrate-field-image-1.1.0/app/views/fields/image/_index.html.erb where line #18 raised:

nil is not a valid asset source

when running gem build administrate-field-image.gemspec I get this error

Invalid gemspec in [administrate-field-image.gemspec]: cannot load such file -- administrate/field/base
ERROR:  Error loading gemspec. Aborting.

thank you for this gem i am working with rails 5.2 and using active storage.

i am thinking of creating a gem for an active storage field as i was searching for such thing i stumbled upon this repo, currently viewing images work using this repo but other file types don't work.

if you are willing to add active storage support since it is in the stable branch of rails i am willing to contribute.

my suggestion is the following:

1. upload single file at first and then multiple files
2. adding image support through url_for to support 3rd party cloud storage.
3. use html 5 video element for video files
4. use html audio element for audio files
5. download link to other files

optional:

1. use preview variant for pdf and other office files with a download link
