Amazon Tag Remover

Info

Are you tired that each banner or ad linking to amazon is silently injecting their affiliate tracking ID and receive a small revenue of what you bought? And more importantly they know what you bought? (even if it's not directly linked, it's still possible to de-anonymize the data)
This extension removes the tracking ID before the browser is performing the request, ensuring that you are not being tracked.

Note: if you have a partner cookie on your computer, you might still be tracked

• Visual feedback which tag was removed
• Works on starting parameter (?tag) and appended parameter (&tag)
• Support for ascsubtags
• Full support for all amazon sites (e.g. from Germany, Mexico or UK to China and Italy)
  • amazn.to links are supported, too, since the expanded request to the amazon site is intercepted

Ability to turn off removal notification

I like this extension but it really really needs the option to turn off the notification of how many tags were removed, sometimes I visit a page and get a humongous wall of text that just honestly annoys the hell out of me. Please give us the option to hide these notifications!!

Currently only amazon.xyz links are supported, but I order most of my stuff over amazon smile, to donate a portion of amazon's proceeds to charity.

Option to clear existing tags from the local storage

It would be nice to have an easy way to remove the tags already stored in the local storage.

Update screenshots in store listing

• it would be better to use an English Amazon as the screenshots
• extension can now use multiple tags, the "popup" is therefore incorrect

Amazon Order Page keeps autorefreshing constantly

I added the tag remover to firefox. When I go to the "ORDER" page on Amazon, it refreshes constantly and it does it so fast that you can't see anything on the order page, just the fact that the browser is trying to do something over and over again.

I uninstalled the tag remover and it is still doing it. Closed out the browser and reopened - still doing it. Made sure firefox was updated to newest version - still doing it. Reinstalled the tag remover and it is still doing it.

Two questions:

1. Will amazon-tag-remover be compatible with FF 57?

2. Any possibility to force a replacement tag after removing the existing tag? (So I can stick my tag in?)

Release for Edge

The long term goal is to publish this extension to the Windows Store, so Edge users can download the extension conveniently.

There is still a bit of work that has to be done

• Wait until Microsoft accepts submissions from everyone
• Edge does not support URLSearchParams yet

Opt-in feature: more aggressive link cleaning

hey tim, it seemed to work at first when i clicked affiliate links and now its not working. Im seeing a /ref=as_li_ss_tl? in the url, what is that? - for example i got this link: https://www.amazon.com/Mitutoyo-Advanced-Absolute-Digital-Caliper/dp/B00WMKUUAQ/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=sl1&linkId=0ca01780457ac001751b779809516530&language=en_US Also for the first couple links i tested it with i got the notification that the tag was removed - not getting that notification anymore

Support for ascsubtag

In addition to the tag= parameter, certain affiliates also use an ascsubtag= parameter, ostensibly for more detailed tracking. I'm not sure if it would still work when it doesn't accompany a tag=, but I assume that since it appears to be a partner derived ID they would be able to link it back to the visitor. Tracking, regardless.

Edge release not available

It appears that the Edge release of the extension (for ref: #4 ) has been removed.

The link in the README (https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9NVBVZB6QH92) is unvailable, and the extension does not appear in both Extensions for Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Store and Microsoft Edge Insider Addons
