c#6 functions could not be used in razor files
The project csproj files are referencing to older versions of Microsoft.Net.Compilers (should be: 2.1.0) and Microsoft.CodeDom.Providers.DotNetCompilerPlatform (should be 1.0.7). This could be resolved via a nuget package install for the whole solution. Also a global web.config file is needed for the process (with Build Action set to None).

Could not load file or assembly error running SitecoreTemplates.tt
The solution to this problem could be find here:

Assembly versions are hardcoded
packages.config should be None instead of Content

Old Msbuild is used
Running build.cmd throws the error: MS 14.0 does not support Microsoft.Net.Compilers.
I have resolved this issue by using a newer Msbuild.exe:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Enterprise\MSBuild\15.0\Bin\MSBuild.exe" %_solution% /p:DeployOnBuild=true /p:PublishProfile=%_publishProfile% /p:VisualStudioVersion=15.0
Target framework of the projects are hardcoded
