#chat, a web to IRC interface
A web interface for IRC! Using node.js, express, websockets, and foundation.
Requirements:
node (npm comes with node)
Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/tsoporan/chat.git chat
Install deps:
cd chat; npm install
Start it up:
npm start
See in action:
http://localhost:3000/
This is weird and should probably be some error.
It'd be nice to see what you missed since the last time you were in a channel.
Show online/away, change name, disconnect, etc.
Need, especially for the formatting in MOTD
ex. images, video links

Process commands on the client, things like /join do not work right now.
The topic element is not fixed and will scroll
Seen at least once, duplicated message appearing in names sidebar.
An idea worth exploring: tab complete support typically works on the names in an irc channel, extend this functionally to commonly used words
Currently barebones jQuery. It's becoming evident it requires a more structured UI, investigate using React.js
Front page contains list of some popular networks to connect to with one click.
Currently when new messages come in the scroll position doesn't change leading to no noticeable change in the chat.
Message containing a link should be click-able on the web.
This also produces multiple messages per single sent message. Each client that was created will say your message. Also each message that's seen shows up in the client multiple times.
Look at using gulp.
Display as error alerts.

Use independent scrollbars for the chat window and the nick list.
When activity happens in a channel that's not being looked at, show a notification bubble on the channel.
Tab complete channel user names
Should be able to do something like http://site.com/?server=irc.hashbang.sh&channels=#! which will auto-join server and channels.
The chat window should fill the page regardless of screen size.
Using only css for supported browsers, something like: http://css-tricks.com/examples/WebKitScrollbars/
Show a listing of all the persons in a channel
Make sure to filter only to the web client!
Private messaging by clicking on a user name in the sidebar.
If the server goes down or we lose internet, should be able to deal with these scenarios.
It should link to https://github.com/tsoporan/chat/issues/new in a new tab which would make finding/documenting issues significantly easier.
In typical irc clients pressing up will cycle through your last messages.
