Project to convert Latitude/Longitude information to city.

Location

This project is to find out City/Country based on the given Latitude and Longitude. You can see the live version : http://scatter-otl.rhcloud.com/location?lat=36&long=-78.9

City data (cities1000.zip: all cities with a population > 1000 ) is downloaded from http://download.geonames.org/export/dump/

This project implements a special index to find nearby cities and calculates the closest for given point

Improve cities list

Do you have any idea to include all cities of the world, including cities with a population < 1000?

As i said on stackoverflow i'm experiencing some problems.

If your script can't find the right city from the cities1000.txt file, it searches for the nearer city.
Here is an example: http://scatter-otl.rhcloud.com/location?lat=17.1565111&long=-61.849559
It says "Basseterre", but i should display "Saint John". They are 2 different places at all!

How to make your script more accurate?

Usage policy for open sources projects

May you describe the usage policy of your api, is it suitable for using in other open sources projects? For example at geokrety.org we need to convert latlon coordinates to country codes.
