Some feedback

Tiny typo in bootstrap-custom.scss line 19:

We copy-pasta variables

I think it would also be cool if the index.html, or some other template/test page was available to visualize the customizations.

bootstrap-custom.css is only generated when bootstrap-custom.scss is changed

<li>When ready, enter <code>npm start</code>. This will compile the CSS for the first time, and then watch the source <code>bootstrap-custom.scss</code> file for changes, automatically recompiling as necessary.</li>

When npm start is run, the .css file is not generated yet. This only happens when bootstrap-custom.scss is changed. This is default behaviour: sass/node-sass#1660

Add autoprefixer

Without this, we lose key browser compatibility for most things.
