ungoogled-chromium-binaries's Issues

70.0.3538.110-2 not working (macos)

this is the release from @kramred, I downloaded it like 3 times. moved from the disk image, left on the disk image, it just doesn't work. the previous release from the same user works fine (70.0.3538.110-1).

EDIT: macOS 10.14.1.

Script throws an error when submitting for Windows

When I try to submit a new build of Ungoogled Chromium using the following command on Windows 10 command prompt (running as administrator):

py utilities/submit_github_binary.py --git C:/ungoogled-chromium-windows --username seanking2919 --output config/platforms/windows/64bit/ C:/ungoogled-chromium-windows/build

I get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):

    sys.exit(main())

I don't if it's that I'm doing this wrong or something else, but I need help with this.

Upgrade release helper script

Possibly upgrade the github_release_helper.py script to generate pages after settling on the design and layout for the page.

Compilation process - multi-target simplified compilation

Hi,

Base upon the number of PR today (#244, #245, #246 and #247), I think that we could centralize a bit more the compilation of the binaries, hence reduce the load and sparce work.

In particular, we could compile the portable (#244), appimage (#245) and probably the deb versions at once in a docker image.
I suspect that the compilation for the others plateforms (except mac, android and windows) could be done this way.

I did not check the compilation process for each of the targets, but I suspect that part of the build is common between some of the targets (at least the portable, appimage and deb), hence wastefull to make the compilation by mutilple people.

I'm working on a repo to make the compilation for some targets and make the PR in this repo "automatically" (done manually at the moment, may be pushed to a CICD later one, I dont know).

What do you think, @Eloston ?

FR: Make possible to publish/download more binaries for same version, but from different authors

I'm not sure if it is already possible, but it seems that for each version released, it's only possible to publish a binary made by one author? If that's so, then as the title says... It will be nice to have an option for different binaries, built on different environments.

I myself would like to publish signed portable binaries built on my Gentoo box. One use case, at least, will be for my ebuild overlay, which I maintain both, source and binary based ebuilds, this would remove the waiting time for someone to release a binary version.

Off course, I could publish my own binaries somewhere else, recluse from the official repo, but that wouldn't benefit other users.

Opendesktop.org

Hi @Eloston

You probably know the linux oriented store Opendesktop.org... here is the browser applications category https://www.opendesktop.org/browse/cat/248/ord/latest/

What about uploading binary there, i do develop some kde extensions there and they give developer some pay back per download... could be help full to pay build-server/future-site/domain... it's not invasive at all user would just get redirected there instead of .tar on git (so 1 additional click to get the file)

What do you think ?
Note : It's not about monetizing the browser (the binary remain untouched) but a small encouragement is always welcome

Atom feed not updated?

It seems the atom feed isn't being updated with the latest relases. For example, the latest Linux Appimage version is 123.0.6312.105-1 but the feed still lists 121.0.6167.160-1 as latest.

site generation seems to fail

it seems that after the last merges of portableliunx and windows binaries builds the site was not regenerated.
Also the site generation check with latest two pull requests failed after some time.
It looks like the site generation job doesn't have enough resources for the generation or is otherwise disrupted.

Separate config and HTML into different branches

Separate the config files and HTML into different branches. One branch config can contain ONLY config files, then another branch html or gh-pages can contain ONLY the HTML. That way users don't get as confused about the HTML and the CI doesn't have to pollute our branch history.

Custom version

i have made a custom portable version for linux x64 v68

Additional features :

  • dble click close tab
  • disable kwallet integration

is it suitable to pull request for that version ? and may be name it differently...

i am making https://github.com/intika/UGChrome/ to post my custom version there if any one need it..

Sites stopped working.

Hi Guys.
A few releases ago, I ran into a problem on a couple of sites that were working earlier. I have tested them with other browsers (thorium and firefox) and there they work as expected.

When I try to login https://aliexpress.ru a window pops up saying: "Sorry, we have detected unusual traffic from your network. Please slide to verify." It doesn't matter how many times you slide the button it reappears again and again.
When I try to login https://lk.mts.ru, site says:
403 Error
Forbidden
Access to login.mts.ru is forbidden.
Try accessing the site login.mts.ru later or contact administration of the site.

Version 116.0.5845.96 (Official Build, ungoogled-chromium) AXE (64-bit)
Best regards.

submit_github_binary.py throws no module named pkg_resources.extern found

utilities/submit_github_binary.py -h / --help, as well as all the other /utilities scripts also result in ModuleNotFoundError.
locally cloned the repo just a couple of days ago. worked before on the same machine. all packages from requirements.txt are present and i did pacman -S them again.
i did however generate the ini file manually and pull request then

comment as of yesterday:
i just edited the html manually, its all in my repo and i'm dead out of time for today i need to leave. if someone can just manually pull from my repo that'd be greatly appreciated

There should be more Windows releases.

Such as 87.0.8280.88, there isn't its own source code but also can be compiled by 87.0.8280.67 windows patchs and 87.0.8280.88 code.

I have tried yesterday and it worked.

Ubuntu 20.04 no longer supported?

It looks like starting with 114, Ubuntu 20.04 and derivatives (like Mint 20) are no longer supported. Is there any chance to get working binaries for them again? After all, they are LTS releases supported until 2025. Would be great to have them supported by ungoogled chromium until then at least. Thanks in advance!

Create a current tag release for Arch Linux

This will allow easy updating of arch binaries by simply placing the following into /etc/pacman.conf:

[ungoogled-chromium]
Server = https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/releases/tag/current

Four database files are needed as well, which can be generated with the use of the repo-add command. More information here.
