A quick and dirty utility to pack or unpack .knytt.bin files as generated by the Knytt Stories level editor.
I'm not sure if the file format this program handles is unique to Knytt stories. Perhaps this is a standard feature of Multimedia Fusion 2. If so, this program can probably be used to extract/create similar archives for all sorts of MMF2 games.
x86_64 binaries for both Linux and Windows are included in the bin directory.
If for whatever reason you wish to build this yourself, you could use cmake:
mkdir build
cd build
cmake ..
cmake --build .
Or, considering this is a 2-file project, just run:
g++ -o knyttbin src/knyttbin.cpp src/main.cpp
Replace g++ with your C++ compiler of choice.
To extract a .knytt.bin file:
knyttbin --extract some-level.knytt.bin
If you wish to extract the files into a specific directory, run:
knyttbin --extract --output=/path/to/where/you/want/it some-level.knytt.bin
(Note that the --extract flag is optional)
To create a new .knytt.bin file:
knyttbin --compress /path/to/some/world
That will create a file called world.knytt.bin and place it in /path/to/some. If you wish to specify a different filename, you can do:
knyttbin --compress --output=/other/dir/hello.knytt.bin /path/to/some/world
That's all there is to it, really.
