workshop4's Issues

Chapter timing

Need a number of people to go through each chapter without distraction and reading all of the text while performing the tasks to get accurate timing information for each chapter. This can be used in estimates for how long users will take to complete each step.

Style Guide

There is an inconsistency of style across the first few labs I’ve done. Sometimes general text is bold, sometimes not. Sometimes commands are shown in separate boxes, sometimes not. The way for navigating menus also varies. This is a good place to start from, https://www.stylepedia.net/

Need to decide what style to use for body, text, instructions and code etc.

Corrections spotted by Ally

  1. Small typo on page 67 - "titmed" instead of "titled"
  2. When creating the probes1 project (p. 67), must specify that the user selects 'Deployment Config'

[RFE] Need to write a deployable app that allows Users to register and get given a username

An online registrations service that hands out the userx users - would be nice if:

1: We can change the password in the htpasswd secret so each user can have their own password - if we do we'd probably need to add a feature to update or reset the password in the situation a user forgets as well

2: The App should perform an SCC controlled update of the User object to add the User name metadata to the user - in order to do this the user must be logged in once, so the process would be register, log on for them, change the label, logoff.

Copy + pasting YAML

Lots of issues in workshops with attendees copying and pasting YAML and getting indentation errors, even when it looks right

Copy + paste button on webpages

Tidy up the project creation process

Ensure that users create a 'standard' sandbox project at the start of the workshop and then tidy up by deleting applications as they complete a chapter.

Additional projects can the created as necessary for the RBAC and SDN (for example) and then those projects can be deleted at the end of the chapter.

[RFE] Adding a bot to operate as a pseudo user via SpringBoot Webservices

Intention is to add a bot as a containerised application that can be run within the cluster and serve responses to webservices that operate within the OCP cluster (i.e. the service account used to execute the app will have capabilities to act as a user in terms of project creation, RBAC setups)

Tidy up the terminal instructions

Some users are confused by the instructions to create the DevEx terminal in a container and the information on the optional installation of oc locally.

There are too many command line tools to list them all with installation instructions so we should remove the optional information and expect all users to use the terminal in a container.

Propose a remote DevEx to marketing

Send email to Bex in marketing proposing an open-enrollment DevEx workshop for a morning to act as an introduction to OpenShift.

Ambiguity

A few people have got stuck with this previously.

Under 'A Summary of Application Interactions', there is an instruction

Click on 'Workloads' and then select Pods to see the list of pods for the project as shown in the image below.

There are sometimes two 'Workloads' links - one in the left hand menu and one in the top menu, and they don't appear to do the same thing

Knative Lab

Knative lab using the Knative CLI. This will be based around a very simple restful API
