botania's Introduction

Welcome to the Botania repository.

Botania is a Minecraft tech mod themed around natural magic. It's inspired by other magic mods, such as Thaumcraft or Blood Magic.

Botania is licensed under the Botania License

For information on contributing, please read CONTRIBUTING.md.

Maven info

Maven artifacts are located here, each folder representing a version.

Note: As of 1.16, intermediate (non-release) Maven builds are no longer persisted. That is, you must either depend on a released version of Botania, e.g. 1.16.2-407, or specifically opt in to the bleeding-edge build of the next version. For example, 1.16.2-408-SNAPSHOT would be the current bleeding edge version of future version 1.16.2-408.

Note that -SNAPSHOT versions can be broken from time to time, and you are strongly discouraged from using them unless you are helping dogfood, test, or contribute to Botania. They may also be pruned from time to time to save disk space on the server. Do not rely on -SNAPSHOT versions for anything important!

In Forge, add the following to your build.gradle

repositories {
    maven { url 'https://maven.blamejared.com' }
}

dependencies {
    // 1.14+
    compileOnly fg.deobf("vazkii.botania:Botania:[VERSION]:api")
    runtimeOnly fg.deobf("vazkii.botania:Botania:[VERSION]")
}

Mixin Troubleshooting

Read this if you get crashes when depending on Botania and trying to launch in-dev. Botania uses Mixins to implement various features. This may cause issues when depending on Botania in-dev, since ForgeGradle/MixinGradle do not yet properly support this in-dev like Fabric does. As a workaround, disable refmaps by defining the mixin.env.disableRefMap JVM argument to true.

botania's Issues

Endoflames eating stacks in an instant. [Forge 956/ Botania V 8-9]

So wanted to test out the power an efficiency of an endoflame over day blooms, however while doing so, it ate one piece of coal and converted it into power. After tossing an entire stack seeing if it would consume one piece by piece at a time, it consumed the entire stack and only gave the equivalent of one piece of charcoal in terms of power.

Hydroangeas producing more during rainfall

This would be rather fun and fitting. I think the Hydroangeas are well-balanced enough right now, they would only get a little boost during rainfall ofcourse. Just, random idea I suppose.

Weird Tiny Planet behaviour

From Leonstar0 on the forums:
Hum, another thing.
When mana is fired from a mana blaster using a resistance focus at a tiny planet (block) after a few cycles it seems to be flung consistently to the north west in a straight line. (perhaps slightly norther?) Both X and Z were negative ( X -771 Y 65 Z -358 as an example) although I tried this from many different coordinates, and received identical or near identical results. (X and Z still negative)

I have not observed this behavior when using the tiny planet (baubles amulet), using the same lens. (separately, with no interference)
is the tiny planet having slightly different mechanics intentional?

Botania Beta crashing MAC on startup. T.T

Hello Vazkii, I am having issues with Botania Beta. Ever since you released the Beta version it continues to crash my Minecraft on startup.

I run MC on an Apple 2.8 GHx Intel Core 2 Duo 24" iMac with 4 GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. My OS is 10.9.2 Maveriks and my graphics ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB.

Although the specs might seem low, they are more than adequate for running a fully modded game of MC on Forge.

I should also point out to you that Apple stopped supporting Java after 6. So, anything requiring Java 7 has the potential to cause issues. I hope that helps out. :)

In any case, I reinstalled MC 1.7.2 and Forge 1082 and only placed Botania Beta in the mods folder to recreate the crash.

Here is the FML log: http://pastebin.com/nXENu9MZ

Here is the Development Console crash report: http://pastebin.com/8g0sTWZn

Olá Vazkii, estou tendo problemas com Botania Beta.

Shift-right-clicking Flowers with the Wand of the Forest

It should practically ''reset'' the flower. Loose all progress, but at least you don't have to destroy them. It still happens A LOT with the bulk generation flowers, specifically the Thermalily, that it gets stuck on full mana bar but does not transmit it.

Terra Firma rod doesn't break sandstone

When using the new terraform rod to terraform a desert (or other sandy area) the sandstone will persist. The Terra Firma rod can break Grass, dirt and stone(but not ores), but no sandstone. It's extremely disturbing to have those sandstone chunks left.

[Idea] Munchdew

The Munchdew attracts passive mobs within a static range when fed mana. It will nom away at them, stunning them and sticking them to their place.

EDIT (V): Leaves 2 mobs of the same kind behind for breeding.
REPLY: I think that would make it a bit too easy. I think more planning should be required for that kind of sustainability.

Mobs killed this way have a chance not to drop anything, to balance the practically free farming out (the Munchdew may have been a bit too hungry).

Mana Blaster dupe

From Leonstar0 on the forums:
And another one, which is definitely a bug.
It is possible to duplicate mana, by shooting mana with the mana blaster at a mana pool.
The mana pool has more mana in it then what was shot at it.

Standing at 1 block range, tried it from all cardinal directions in survival with a noncreative mana tablet.
All items were spawned in visa creative.

This is not a graphical/client glitch/desync, as I had a secondary empty mana tablet to measure how much mana was left. (was using f3-h-shift to measure durability) and had reloged. both with the secondaty tablet filled and unfilled, the mana remained.

Botania beta-15 assets inclusion

Don't know if you know, but the latest version of Botania, beta-15 as of now, has the assets from both EE3 and your MiniumTransmutator addon inside the zip file, as well as its own. The previous version, beta-14, was not like this.

Soujourner's Sash intermittent, and affects all players on server

After equipping the Soujourner's sash, other players on the server experices the jump, step assist, and movement speed boosts from this sash. They experienced this intermittently.

Additionally, this sash does not seem to always affect my character as well. I sometimes lack any of the three bonuses. (speed/step/jump)

I am wearing a full set of manasteel armor enchanted for ascent boost, and haste.

request: limiting worldgen

Would it be possible to make a config option to limit the generation of botania flowers either to a number of whitelisted biomes, or a number of whitelisted dimensions? It would be very helpful to avoid the cluttering that happens in a world when too many mods all add different plants to the default worldgen.

Phantom lens through multiple spreaders

A spreader with the Mana Lens: Phantom doesn't seem to retarget between multiple spreaders in its path. See image for reference:
2014-05-20_07 25 34

Expected behaviour:
The spreader with the lens fills up the first spreader in its path that is not full. Once full, move on to the next spreader that is not full.

Actual behaviour:
The spreader fills up the first spreader in its path that is not full and stops. If you remove and replace the lens, the spreader will retarget and start filling up the next spreader that is not full.

This is probably not the original intention when the phantom lens was designed, but it is the first thing I thought of when I learned of it. Mainly because the mana burst goes through filled up spreaders. If you are not gonna implement it this way, I'd suggest making the behaviour clear, by stopping the mana bursts at the first spreader.

[Idea] Hyacidus

The Hyacidus should be Botania's take at ore processing, in a more interesting way. It uses quite a bit of mana, and the more mana it receives, the more it produces. The mana one Thermalily produces should be the max speed it can be.

When you drop an ore nearby, it'll pick it up and the thing will float above the centre flower. Then, there will be acidic particles sprayed onto it, until it eventually breaks down (to be picked up by Hopperhocks perhaps).

  • 2 Coal
  • Random Floral Dusts
  • 0-1 Diamond Fragment (rare)

Diamond Ore:

  • 1 Diamond

  • 0-2 Managem Fragments

Gold Ore:

  • 1 Gold Chunk
  • 3-8 Gold Nuggets
  • Modcomp: 1-5 Copper Nuggets

  • 7-10 Lapis
  • Blue Floral Dye

Redstone Ore:

  • 7-10 Redstone Dust
  • Red/Orange Floral
  • 0-2 Glowstone Dust

Sojourner's Sash applying to all players on server

I have a server with under 8 people playing on it. I was on by myself, made a Sojourner's Sash and equipped it, and I got the speed & jump buffs as expected. However, when other people logged on, they didn't have any baubles equipped, but they are also running faster and jumping 2 blocks high. When I take my sash off, they lose the effect. It seemed to apply to everyone on the server, we had 4 other people besides myself all getting the effect.

Ring of Absailing or whatever

Simply a bauble that gives you the ability to slide down walls as if you were sliding down a ladder, except you cannot climb up.

Holding shift will stop you from sliding any further when on a vertical surface.

Just something rather useful I believe.

Lexica Botania not showing correct quantities in recipes

Mana alchemical recipes for glowstone, wool, and nether quartz blocks are showing that the recipes only give one of the source material. This appears to only be a visual bug in the lexica as when I tossed in one of these items I got the correct amount of the source material in return. (A glowstone block gave me 4 glowstone dust, a quartz block gave me 4 nether quartz and wool gave me 3 string)

Hopperhock range

Using beta-34 ... the hopperhock range does not seem to be affected by the presence of a mana pool. My testing gives a range of 3 blocks with or without a pool.

[Idea] Bullseye flower

The Bullseye will attract all hostile mobs in a small area. Feeding it mana will increase the range.

Mobs will recklessly attack this thing, making for good mob farms. This means that their previous target will get left alone. The only flower that overrides its effect is the Heisei Dream.

Recipe:

  • Yellow Mana Petal
  • Brown Mana Petal
  • Yellow Petal
  • Rune of Wrath
  • Rune of Air

[Idea] Floral Biome

This would be a biome dedicated to spawning flowers. The reason behind this a few of my friends and I feel like the spawn rate of the flowers is excessive. I think a good way to fix this is to reduce the spawn rate of the flowers by about 40% and use the current spawn rate in a biome dedicate to flowers.

just a suggestion

Client crash in world

http://paste.cisien.com/f/484fec0b.txt

While this doesn't call out Botania directly, I believe this mod is the source of this crash.

I stopped getting this crash after I removed Botania.

I wish i could give you more detail other than this...
Seed: 1449317119036395715
the crash occurs around -623, 1321

If you can't repro in this seed/this location, then I can bundle up this instance and put it up for download.

Multiplayer block drops issue

I made a multiplayer server for me and my friend and after installing this mod I discovered that when you break a block from this mod it drops a random vanilla item like flowers drop wood pickaxes of differing durabilities and when I tested on singleplayer it worked fine. I am using beta 19

Mana pool bug

When I right click on my mana pool with the wand, I see the little HUD but the mana bar don't grow at all, I can transform iron into manasteel ingot etc...
But it's really disturbing.
I join a screen shot of that.

Breaking Livingwood Planks drops Livingwood

Breaking a plank of living wood drops the entire living wood block that I can then craft into more planks. This happened on beta-8 so I updated to beta-9 but it didn't help

The upgrade from beta 31 to beta 37 causes world corruption

The interesting part of the startup (before /fml confirm and the world ends): http://paste.cisien.com/f/b8b07b73.txt

The full log, including after /fml confirm:
http://paste.cisien.com/f/9e63b3b2.txt

I was able to "work around" this issue by removing 31, cycling the server, then adding 37. The side effect is that I lose all botania-related items/blocks.

I have an instance that can reproduce this. I can provide the instance if you need it. I'm not linking it now since the zip will contain all of the mods in use, which i don't have perms to distribute. Ping me on IRC (under this name) if you would like it.

Dupe with hopperhocks

When one places multiple hopperhocks next to a chest and throws an item on the ground, the item is added to the chest as many times as there are hopperhocks.

Thorns enchant on Manasteel armor causes armor damage

After enchanting the manasteel chest and pants with thorns 3, mob attacks would count towards the durability on the armor directly. This happens with a full mana tablet in my inventory.

Ring of Aquatic Ascent [random ''fun'' idea]

The Ring of Aquatic Ascent helps you swim in water, and allows you to quickly surface when you are diving. Just an aid for those ocean adventures. You will also swim quite a bit faster.

Here comes the fun stuff... While it is raining, you will fall much slower, you will basically be able to float around a bit. Press shift while in mid-air to descent regularly.

I keep getting these fun bauble ideas that I'd use myself definitly. Dunno if this is hard or even logical to add, but hey, why not post it anyway.

Crash Error

Hey i found a crash error!

It happened when i was right clicking the mana pool with a wand of the forest and a mana spreader was shooting the particles at the pool.

Another mana dupe bug.

Slight mana duplication occurs when a mana tablet is dropped (I used a full non-creative tablet) in between two mana pools on draw mode.
Able to duplicate consistently.

Mana tablet not protecting helmet

Currently wearing Terrasteel Helmet and legs, and manasteel chest. The chest and legs do not take damage while I carry a tablet, but the helmet does. FWIW, the helmet is enchanted with Protection IV and Thorns II.

The Snowflake Pendant and Lava

It would be cool if the Snowflake Pendant created some sort of lava-ice variant (something stone-ish that melts back quickly). Wouldn't be OP or anything :).

Munchdew's diet

Munchdew should also eat hay.
Not only does it provide nutrients not found in leaves, it will give the species a better chance of survival by not being solely reliant on leaves for energy!
As they say, variety is the spice of life!
.....
Mock up over.
Yeah, having muchdew accepting hay gives an alternative to setting up a tree farm, which is a wheat farm.

Rannuncarpus and Botania Flower

The Rannuncarpus, when given an 'technical' flower, places an "Botania Flower" which has a poppy texture.
(I was trying to get a Rannuncarpus place a Rannuncarpus, further testing showed this effected all technical flowers)
Also on the note of that, I tried to make Rannuncarpus place a Rannuncarpus on a Rannuncarpus, the resulting behavior is strange :/
Don't know whats going on there.

[Idea] Pollidisiac

This flower simply uses some mana to put nearby mobs in love mode. Simple as that.

Recipe:

  • Red Mana Petal
  • Orange Mana Petal
  • Green Petal x2
  • Rune of Lust
  • Rune of Fire (because it can get kinda hot, hehe)

Not Able to See/Break Flowers And Cannot Collect Livingrock/wood

Basically what the title says. I can see the sparkles when I find the flowers, but the flowers themselves I cannot see. When I find an invisible flower that I want to break and collect, I find that it turns into leather boots. Then, after making them with an invisible Pure Daisy, I find that I cannot harvest Livingrock and Livingwood; which actually give me iron leggings and sticks, respectively. I would guess that these are bugs due to the mod being in Beta stage (I am using 1.7.2). However, if I'm missing something and is being an idiot, please forgive me for wasting time. :)

Mana Generating Flowers Stuck on Full

I checked through the changelogs before posting this and didn't notice anything on this, but on version 16 any flowers that generate power (tested with daybloom, hydros, and the arcana) will not output power to an spreaders when full of juice.
