Without setting --title, I would get a line like }\\[3em], which causes xelatex/pdflatex to complain about having no line to end there. Probably you can just write \par or \par\vskip 3em.

Just happened upon your project, looks cool! I was just thinking of building something similar myself.

after running cargo build, when I try to run phototex, I'm getting the following error:

Hi,

it would be great if you could provide instructions on how to build and install the program. Not everyone (e.g. me) is an expert in rust and knows how to do that.

Tested on xelatex and pdflatex. I assume that my installation is missing certain dependencies.

Since no actual text is used, may we have the line \usepackage[french]{babel} removed? Thanks.
