word-peaks's Issues

I think I broke Peaks

Hello dear Wordle Peaks team,

I was just casually playing along my daily game when I suddenly lost my internet connection and now my game is broken. It keeps telling me "loading..." but will stay like that at all times. I can click the question mark and options buttons but their display won't open properly (it shows me that I've clicked the button, by getting darker, but the window won't open). I hope that I've explained this well enough for you to understand what is happening and to maybe find a solution to it.

Thank you and with kind regards

Post-game analysis

Create a (simpler) version of WordleBot on a separate page that will show you stats about your guesses and how your game went.

Internationalization

From the README:

If you can contribute a translation, please check out this link, or create a pull request with a translated copy of this file in a new locale folder (e.g. fr/main.json).

Or if you don't want to do any of that, you can just get in touch with me and send the translation in whatever way is convenient for you.

The word list for the game itself will remain in English. If you want to play with a different dictionary, please create a fork.

Please comment below if you want to add a language on Crowdin that isn't listed there.

Hard to distinguish between letters in/out of range

I find it surprisingly difficult to distinguish between the letters on the keyboard that are in range vs out of range. Some things we might do to make it look more clear:

  • decreasing the font-weight for invalid letters
  • changing the text color for valid letters from #cccccc to something closer to #ffffff (while keeping invalid letters as-is)

I'm sure there are other bigger changes that could be made to the color scheme instead, but above are some simple improvements IMO.

Thoughts?

Stats migration

Add a page that allows exporting and importing your stats to other devices or browsers.

This can just be an encoded version of the necessary JSON data that is copied and pasted.

Please make idlers(?) optional

I find the dancing letters in unfilled squares (I think they're called "idlers") to be very distracting.[*] In order to concentrate on my guesses, I have to cover them up with one hand turned sideways, while holding my phone with the other -- quite awkward.

If they could be made turn-off-able with a preference setting, that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

[*] The same is true of animated ads and the like. Assorted stuff moving on my screen, unrelated to the operation I'm actively performing, is a problem. I guess a lot of people are able to filter out such distractions, but there are those of us who aren't.

Suggestion: Switch from random to daily puzzle

As a player, I'd like to...
Have a way of switching from a random puzzle back to the daily puzzle without manually modifying the URL. Currently, if I complete the daily puzzle, then do a random puzzle, I can't easily switch back to view the results modal.

Random mode stats

Just writing this down so I don't forget: look into keeping separate stats for random mode, instead of not recording them at all.
