folderflags's Issues

Junk Mail folder flag returns to previous state after restart of TB

OK, so I actually wish to ask if I can somehow get TB and Folderflags to do something a little different perhaps. Folderflags works great while I have the "Junk" flag unchecked and the "Inbox" checked., My junk gets scanned by the adaptive junk control. and shuttled away to the "Deleted" folder where I want it. However if I restart TB, the flag returns to its previous state of "Junk" checked and of course this prevents TB from using adaptive scanning at all. So my question is perhaps more of a feature, and less of an issue, but it is just that, can this tool be made to retain it's settings in between restarts? I am using Hotmail as webserver and using IMAP as connection type for the record...

v1.4.2 on TB 91.11.0 (64 bits): Trash, Inbox are re-created at each start.

As the title states ... I have created MyTrash and MyInbox folders, used the Flags properties to set them as Trash and Inbox folders, I used the Flags properties to remove any special flags from the original Trash and Inbox folders, then removed them. Everything looked as I wanted. I shut down TB and started it again ... MyTrash and MyInbox were still there, with their Flags, but new Trash and Inbox folders were created and given their special flags.

Note that I used these names for simplicity, as my TB has its interface language in French.

I haven't left this message on the TB's add-on page because I don't have a TB account (and I don't want one, for now at least).

Thunderbird 78

I'm able to install to install the addon in Thunderbird 78, but the Flags tab on the Folder Properties dialog is missing. According to https://developer.thunderbird.net/add-ons/updating/tb78, XUL overlays are no longer supported. Any plans to update this useful addon?

Alternatively, is there a method to set these flags manually (ie. developer console, or editing a file)?

Thanks

Sync between computers

How can I sync the flags between computers? I copied the profile folder but the flags are reset.

All folders marked as Inboxes shall check for new Messages

I understand that so far, Folder flags modifies UI behaviour mainly.
However, i think that the Addon should also help us to correct misassociation as a result of TB localisation.
Especially, i have set several server side Filters that help sorting before my arbitrary clients come into play.
In the last months, i missed some IMPORTANT mails, because TB only checks the main Inbox on opening.
It should check ALL Folders marked as Inbox.

Thank you for considering.

Option to provision folderflags from prefs?

Folderflags is a really nice way to enhance the user experience, especially for (shared) mailboxes in shared namespaces.
I use MCD/autocofig to provide all per-user settings to TB (including configs of shared namespaces), so that a user never has to set any options before (s)he can work with TB.

MCD/autoconfig updates the settings in prefs(.js) when TB starts. I noticed the folderflags setting is stored in <mailbox>.msf, which is not a place where MCD can apply setings.

Some plugins do use prefs, an example is folderaccount, which does something like this:
user_pref("extensions.folderaccount.addToCcOnReply.imap://<user>@<domain>/INBOX", "");

Would it be possible for folderflags to read the settings from prefs on startup and then apply/sync them to <mailbox>.msf?
That would make it possible for my users to use folderflags without having to configure them manually and give users a better experience for shared namespaces.
