Add Seattle Vue.js meetup under "Washington State"

Hello, A colleague sent me a link to this overall VueMeetup list as I am looking for Vue events to attend locally. Under "Washington State" i noticed there isn't anything listed, but on the Meetup webpage there is this event: https://www.meetup.com/SeattleVueJS/

I understand not everyone knows about this repo and/or it may be a new group. :) I am just trying to be helpful so more Seattle people can find it.

I have no affiliationwith that meetup group, although I just joined it today. Thank you!

Proposal to centralize all conference related info and resources

Since Vue already has 3 official conferences under its belt, I thought it could be useful for users to have a centralized location in the docs to see all the Vue.js conferences that have occurred / will happen along with easy to reference links to the various resources for those conferences.

Does anyone else think this is valuable? And if so, should we keep it within this "Community" page or is it worth creating a sister page to the "Community" effort for this?

Discussion: Do we centralize our Meetups into one account?

CodePen has a model where they have organizers submit events to them and they create the event using Nvite. We could certainly follow the same model with Meetup.com if we wanted in order to better facilitate costs for organizers since there is a yearly fee for Meetup.com.

The potential benefits include:

  • A centralized location of all official Vue.js meetups
  • Easier to manage

Potential drawbacks include:

  • Could get cluttered as the organization grows
  • May require the Meetup account to be split into different continents to accommodate the number of meetups which would increase cost

Part of the reason I'm asking this is because one of my goals with this page is to actually provide an easy way for users to query for meetups without ever leaving the Vue.js docs page. However, there is the obvious logistical obstacle of how that would be managed. However, I'll open up a new issue for that discussion.

A user can sort and filter the list of meetups

Users can sort and filter the list based on the following criteria:
- Start Date
- End Date
- Location / Geographic Region
- Topics
- Keywords (matched in either title or description)

Proposal: Provide official chartering for meetups

In an effort to reduce fragmentation, I wanted to recommend that we have "official charters" for groups. In other words, our list of meetup groups would represent the "official Vue.js meetup groups" and thus would make it easy for all interested parties to get in touch with the right people.

Another benefit this would add is that we would also be aware of all the community leaders and would also provide us a simple way of contacting them as needed.

And as far as what organizers would get by being "officially" registered could be things like:

  1. Community support
  2. Financial support for things like food
  3. Vue.js swag like stickers or even organizer t-shirts
  4. Sponsor support as available

Thoughts?

We have a large community of vuejs users in kenya and I think it's appropriate for us to have a community

Vue.js LA Meetup page

Hello,

This is a great list. Thank you for your work.

We updated the Vue.js LA Meetup page. I wanted to update the url. The new url is https://www.meetup.com/VuejsLA/ (you will see that your old url redirect to there, for now).

Thank you.
Kobi (VuejsLA organizer)

Starting a new meetup

I am a newbie to Vue and I just realised that there isn't any Vue meetup around my region (Nigeria) and I would like to start one.

Add CFPs for easy reference

I have some conferences in mind already, but other ideas for this concept include providing resources for those interested in getting into speaking and such.

Consolidate other VueMeetups repos

There are artifacts from the repos that either need to be captured and/or retired in order to provide a single source of truth for users.

Start Vue.js meetup in my University.

I'd like to get the greenlight to start a vuejs community specific to my university. I've tried to put to put together a couple of people for a community specific to my city, but that has not been successful. Getting one up and running in my university has prospects of starting in 2019 and I would like to know inform you of this plan

What should be the format for added events?

What should be the format for added events?

I'd suggest dropping the month name from each line, because right now it gets more accented than the town's name and it's redundant since each month has a separate headline.

Also, how to make the town more visible?

What do we call this initiative?

While the repo is currently called "Vue Ambassadors," this is far from being set in stone and I would welcome any suggestions as far as what we call this. Other ideas include:

  1. Vue Community
  2. Vue Advocates
  3. Vue Meetups

Proposal: Reverse the order of past meetups

While it's good that the upcoming meetups are being displayed chronologically, in case of past meetups it means that what we see first are meetups from half of a year ago.

It could be nice to revert that order and show the meetups that just ended first, just like it was previously before that page was dynamic.

What do you think about it?
