Hmm, properties should have a defined type. My current thoughts are that the type should be one of a list of primitive data types, the same or similar to those used in JSON Schema.

That is:

  • null
  • boolean
  • object
  • array
  • number
  • string

The code which exposes a Web Thing API for a Thing should be responsible for decoding binary data and turning it into one of these types (note that this includes "object" and "array" which can be used to represent more complex data structures).

I wouldn't have thought that the raw binary data should be exposed to the web layer, but are there use cases where you think this would be crucial? I imagine that both pressure and temperature can be represented as a number and a unit?
