The HFD website has been updated, and I've adapted HMDHFDplus to properly authenticate at the new site. The new package version is 1.9.19 I've just submitted it to CRAN, so there will be a delay until it is available there. All you'd need to do to adapt this package is change the minimum version number in the DESCRIPTION file. Actually I see there's no Imports entry in the DESCRIPTION file at the moment, so maybe no big deal, but just FYI you'll want to update.

Hi! Thanks for this package, I started to explore it and looks great! For sure will help a lot of people working on kinship topics.
One small doubt is about $x_D$ value in the available dataset dataLH, my first thought is that should be equal to $ddate-bdate$ but is not.
Something I don´t undesrtand about logic?

Hi Frans! HMDHFDplus will soon have a new version on CRAN, which

1. fixes the UTF-8 tail problem you pointed out in the HFD data
2. now refers to the new HMD website and requires new HMD credentials.

The new version number will be 2.0.0; your code shouldn't need to change, unless you had a manual fix for the UTF-8 thing. You'll only need to specify a new minimum HMDHFDplus version number in your DESCRIPTION file. I expect the new version to be on CRAN in 2-3 days. All the best,
