printer-kitten's Issues

Website is down

Hello!
I've noticed the project website is down. Also, apparently all the images in assembly instructions stopped working with latest github markdown rendering changes.
Just letting you know.
Tony.

Belt clamps 1 and 3 are hard to distinguish

When I was assembling my kit this weekend, it was very hard to distinguish clamps 1 and 3 from each other. Clamp piece 2 has a very distinct shape and size, making it easy to set apart from the other two, but I had to look really closely to distinguish 1 and 3 from each other. Even though 3 is supposed to have a clearance hole, the first one I picked up from my pile had enough extra material in the hole to make it almost seem threaded, so I had to really do a lot of sleuthing to come to what I expect was the correct conclusion.

Clamp piece 3 is slightly shorter than clamp piece 1, correct? Perhaps we should also include that in the description?

Should you also consider making a cosmetic change to the design of the pieces, so they are easier to distinguish? Like, maybe add a cross-hatch pattern to one side of clamp 1 or 3, or make the existing alignment groove only run halfway down the length of the part? That way there would be a more stark difference between 1 and 3, so builders could more easily distinguish between them.

X axis and Y axis idler

In the "X axis idler" and "Y axis idler" sections, it mentions using the "shorter bolt from bag 8" and "longer bolt from bag 8," respectively.

...I didn't notice any difference in the lengths of the bolts provided in bag 8. What's going on here?

  • Kit has been changed and documentation has not caught up
  • There was a difference, and I just happened to luck out and put the right ones on the right places
  • There was a difference, and I may have put the wrong things in the wrong places, putting myself, my home, and my loved ones in peril

My idlers are stable, don't float, and spin freely, so I assume everything is alright, but I wanted to make sure there's nothing that needs to be updated in the documentation.
