Current load time is kind of horrible with around 1.25s. Maybe that can be improved upon.
Don't use polyfill.io?
Merge and minify JavaScript
jQuery accounts for 50% of the sites payload. Do we really need it? Is there a lightweight alternative (we basically "only" need AJAX stuff I guess)
When loading with JavaScript, truncate the GitHub API response to the data we need before passing on. Currently everything is being piped, plus the rendered content.
Since draft.sx makes Markdown gists look great on the web ๐, how about making them look really great?
Gruber designed the Smartypants "plug-in" for Markdown (so it has that level of "canonicity"), and there is a Python extension for it. (I think draft.sx uses Python Markdown?)
Hopefully this would make for a painless, subtle, yet significant enhancement ๐ ๐ to this very welcome service.
Hey everyone :) I'm pinging you here because you've expressed interest in gist.io, which is currently not working and has only been sporadically maintained in the past. I've created this fork because I like the idea and wanted to keep it alive. I'd welcome contributions in form of code, but also in form of testing and using the site.
E.g. [this resume] looks kind of neat, so draft.sx could have a small list of nice templates which would create a gist that you can then display back on draft.sx. Not sure yet if this is too out of scope, though.
RoughDraft has a cool feature where it consolidates your Gists on a "user page", e.g. mine is http://nasser.roughdraft.io/. Maybe a route like draft.sx/u/nasser could work for draft?
