I keep notifications volume to zero because I don't want to be distracted by
every single event going on. However kitchentimer alarms are something I
definitely want to be aware of (there is a risk of burning a meal or even
starting a fire) so it would be nice if there were a way to bypass any
Android's volume setting and play the alarm at full strength. This is a very
simple but effective alarm clock I used on Symbian until a couple of weeks ago
http://code.google.com/p/eggclock60/ with a very piercing sound.
By the way, the stock clock application uses the alarm sound channel for both
alarms and timers, so it bypasses silent mode. That's bad for alarms going off
during meetings but it would be ok for a kitchen timer.
A couple of notes:
kitchentimer plays the alarm sound using the system notification channel.
Whether this turns out to be a good choice depends on the usage patters of
every single user so there won't be a good solution for everybody. That's why
this is a feature request.
Furthermore this whole subject is complicated by the number of different sound
channels provided by Android and by the expectations of users with previous
experiences with other phones. An example: many people don't want alarms to
sound in silent mode (that was the case on Symbian), many people are happy with
it.
Thanks

Feature request. You know how when the alarm clock goes off, it turns the
screen on and displays a messagebox above the lock screen to snooze or dismiss
the alarm? Kitchen Timer could really use something like that. That would be
very useful, as it saves me the time and irritation (and possibly
embarrassment, in the right situation) of unlocking my phone while a loud timer
is going off. Once the timer has gone off, the user should be able to
acknowledge it in minimal time.
I honestly haven't looked at the Android API enough to know if this is
possible, but given that the clock app does it, I would think third party apps
could too.

It is not possible to enter more than 59 minutes. But if I want the timer to
ring after 1 h 5 minutes it is easier to enter 65 minutes instead of entering
numbers in two fields.
Therefore, I suggest the ability to enter an arbitrary number in the "minutes"
field, and that Kitchen Timer then recalculates and displays as expected.
(This of course applies equally to the "seconds" field.)

Please consider the following options:
* The ability to hide Timer 2 and/or 3. Not every user needs or uses more than
a single timer and this appears as UI overload. Instead, if Timer 2/3 turned
off, horizontally center Timer 3/2. If timer 2 and 3 are both turned off,
vertically center Timer 1.
* Consider an additional option "Dim Screen" that becomes available if "Keep
Screen On" is turned on. Off by default, this option forces the screen on at
minimum brightness, to conserve battery.
