I think this is expected: live VDI migration is currently implemented by migrating the entire VM, an optimized implementation which migrates just the VDI would be possible in theory but it hasn't been implemented.

Ok, so the host must meet all conditions (incl. enough free RAM) for a VM migration, even if the VM (and the RAM used) stays on the host and only the VDI disk is to be migrated? This is not a big limitation, but a surprising one.

I wonder how complicated it could be to create a specific path that doesn't enter in the migration VM path 🤔 (in order to see if we can make that improvement on our side)
