arras-theme's Issues

Pagination on the news section [moved]

This is Issue 77 moved from a Google Code project.
Added by 2010-09-17T12:55:07.000Z by [email protected].
Please review that bug for more context and additional comments, but update this bug.

Original labels: Type-Defect, Priority-Medium, Milestone-1.5.1

Original description

<b>What steps will reproduce the problem?</b>
1. Display 6 posts in the news section, in settings - reading -> show 10 posts at the most (in WordPress).

<b>What is the expected output? What do you see instead?</b>

Page 2 should start with post 7 but it shows post 11. Setting the settings - reading to 6 fixes that but it takes away some flexibility.

<b>What versions of WordPress and Arras Theme are you using?</b>

1.5.0.1, WP 3.0.1

Also: page 2, 3 and one display 'latest headlines. Perhaps it would be wise to switch
<div class=&quot;home-title&quot;><?php _e('Latest Headlines', 'arras') ?></div>
for
<?php if ( arras_get_option('news_title') != '' ) : ?>
<div class=&quot;home-title&quot;><?php _e( arras_get_option('news_title') ) ?></div>
<?php endif ?>

Incompatibilities with WordPress SEO by Yoast [moved]

<b>What steps will reproduce the problem?</b>
1. Install Arras.
2. Install WordPress SEO.
3. Try to set a custom HTML title in SEO configuration.

<b>What is the expected output? What do you see instead?</b>
I'd expect to see the title I configured in WordPress SEO. Instead I get a title manufactured by the function arras_document_title().

It should at least be possible to disable the function and use default wp_title() instead.

Luckily there is a &quot;Force rewrite titles&quot; function in WordPress SEO to
override any custom title functions in themes (uses preg_replace), but a &quot;use default&quot; in arras would be faster.

Also: need to check for class &quot;WPSEO_Frontend&quot; in arras_document_description()

Featured posts and slideshow show the wrong title and thumbnail [moved]

This is Issue 108 moved from a Google Code project.

Please review that bug for more context and additional comments, but update this bug.

Original labels: Type-Defect, Priority-Medium

Original description

<b>What steps will reproduce the problem?</b>
1. Choose 3 featured posts in node form.
2. Choose categories, but not sticky posts
3. Excerpt = 30 words + Auto Thumbnails checked

<b>What is the expected output? What do you see instead?</b>
I expect to see the correct thumbnail and title associated to the post both in the slideshow and the featured nodebased list.

Instead the slideshow shows the featured image of the last post I have published. And when you browse through the available posts in the slideshow it gives you the title of the latest post but the excerpt is correct.

This problem is also present for the featured node list. All nodes gets the thumbnail and title of my latest published post, but the correct excerpt. The links from each thumbnail goes to the correct posts, but the title is linked to the latest published post.

When I choose for the featured section not only all my categories, but also the sticky posts. It shows 10 posts in nodeform with the correct thumbnail and posttitle...even though I have NO sticky posts and only 3 nodeposts set.

I tried the same approach for the slideshow but the only change is that when I add the sticky posts in my marking together with all the categories, the slideshow disapears altogether.

What versions of WordPress and Arras Theme are you using? I'm using 3.0 WP; not sure the Arras theme I'm using. I'm so sorry -- It was the version available in early June.

<b>Please provide any additional information below.</b>

Hi there. I'm a total newbie -- just launched my first blog in June using the Arras theme and have been learning as I go. I've actually learned quite a bit coming to this forum whenever I have an issue. Last night, I was on the forum researching how I could make my slideshow larger. I came across a post from a photographer in the UK who was trying to do the same thing. I went to her site and liked the way it looked, so I followed the instructions in the thread and nothing happened. I then removed all the changes I made, at least I thought I did, and went to sleep. Well, 24 hours later, I go to make a post, and bingo, the changes went through -- and I hated them. My slideshow was way to big and stretched everything out. I've spent the last couple of hours trying to fix it and nothing is happening. I then tried to do a reset, and it reset everything back to the original default, but left the oversized slideshow intact. I then tried deleting Arras and reinstalling it, and even that didn't work. I am now running a different theme on my site, but I want my old Arras theme back. What should I do? Thank you so much for your help!!!

It took me a whole afternoon but I tracked the problem down to the 'arras_get_terms_list' function in functions.php.

Line 186 read:
                        if ($taxonomy == 'category' || $taxonomy = 'post_tag') {

and should read:

                        if ($taxonomy == 'category' || $taxonomy == 'post_tag') {

Category hierarchy invisibility problem [moved]

Added by 2011-05-29T14:03:19.000Z by [email protected].
Please review that bug for more context and additional comments, but update this bug.

Original labels: Type-Defect, Priority-Medium

Original description

The problem?
- I use a hierarchy of categories, with three, sometimes four levels. When I have intermediate levels of categories, they won't show up. Example: I have &quot;Europe&quot; as a main category. Hovering on &quot;Europe&quot; in my nav bar leads to a list of destinations. For this list not to become too long, I've added intermediate categories (ex British Isles), which again leads to lower level categories (Scotland, Wales, etc).

<b>What is the expected output? What do you see instead?</b>
- Expecting to see the names of the intermediate categories (e.g. British Isles), I instead see nothing. That is to say: nothing, until I hover the mouse on the &quot;nothing&quot;.

- Latest versions of both.

Move line 76 to line 102 (after $w and $h is set) and manipulate the img-src like this:
$empty_thumbnail = '<img src=&quot;' . get_bloginfo('template_directory') . '/library/timthumb.php?src=/images/thumbnail.png&amp;w=' . $w . '&amp;h=' . $h . '&amp;zc=1&quot; alt=&quot;' . get_the_excerpt() . '&quot; title=&quot;' . get_the_title() . '&quot; />';

<b>Please provide any additional information below.</b>

I'm pretty new to wordpress and code, so the issue could be anything.

In Arras > Theme Options > Home > Slideshow, Selected Post Type=Posts and Post Tags=slideshow. I added the tag &quot;slideshow&quot; to the posts I want in the slideshow. In Arras > Post Types & Tax. > Post Types, Slideshow=Posts and in Arras > Post Types & Tax. > Taxonomies, Slideshow=Post Tags.

I am using bytehost.com as a host because it is free and I am a broke student.

Here is my slideshow.php code. I haven't changed it from what it was at installation (at least not on purpose).

<?php

function arras_add_slideshow() {
    global $post_blacklist;
    if (!is_home()) return false;

I expected to get a third level menu with the same background and text color as the rest of the menu.
Main level in menu
   |-Second level
      |-Third level
         |-Forth level
On the third level when I have a forth level I don't get the colors right, they have the same color as text and background but it works when I hover over them, it get's inverted as it should.

<b>Please provide any additional information below.</b>
I checked the code some more and it seams like the level 3 with a level 4 submenu inherits the text color from sfHover from the level 2 item.
I hover over &quot;Uppdragsutbildningar&quot; to show the sub menu with 8 sub menues, 4 of them has a forth level of menu and as you can see in my screenshot the text color is the same as the background as the item thinks that I hover over it regarding the text color. It gets the sf-with-ul style, the same as used for li.sfHover. If I remove sf-with-hover from the a-tag in the sub menu it get's the right color. See attached files for some screenshots and CSS info.

<b>What is the expected output? What do you see instead?</b>
I expect to see output from all the categories, but it either selects only the first category, i.e. as another user mentioned category with id=1. In my case sometimes it shows only the very first post from this category. Only if a category is specifically selected in the settings, then it works fine but only for that particular category, not for others.

Similarly the Latest Headlines is also not working right, somewhat is the same fashion as the above.

I want to show only certain posts - marked by, for example, a category - in the slideshow, while I show regular newsposts only (all other categories) in the News posts-category.

I just cannot get this working. I've added many categories, and I've tried making one a sticky post. The next paragraph explains exactly what I cannot do.

My main problem is that I'm not able to select anything in Arras options > Home - the box that says Stickied posts / categories is greyd out. I've attached a picture of this.

<b>What steps will reproduce the problem?</b>
I have a problem with the featured stories widget. On the Frontpage of my weblog, it displays correctly the latest 5 posts with a picture of my Musique Category. But if you click on a POST and look on the right, all featured stories titles, thumbnails and read more in the widget are the same as the post.

Something else I should pointed out about the widget is, I have to select the 'Featured' category in the widget to get anything to show, if I select All Categories, 'Featured Stories' widget title shows but no posts.

I've tried disabling all my plugins in case there was some confliction but nothing changes.

The same problem is described in the forum: http://www.arrastheme.com/forums/topic3220-featured-stories-widget-problem.html

I believe the problem is caused by the call to wp_reset_query at the end of arras_render_posts. My analysis is as follows:

home.php
--------

When this is called $wp_query and $wp_the_query are referencing the &quot;default&quot; query (all posts).
Line 64 - query_posts instantiates a new WP_Query for the &quot;News&quot; category referenced by $wp_query.
Line 65 - arras_render_posts uses $wp_query to display the News posts BUT (in template.php line 166) the final call to wp_reset_query resets $wp_query to the default query.
Line 66 onwards - pagination is called operating on the default query and produces the wrong results.

It seems to me that the call to wp_reset_query is incorrect. Pagination will not work following arras_render_posts if the query referenced by $wp_query is changed, and most calls to it are followed by pagination. The bug is not more widespread because arras_render_posts is called most often when $wp_query is referencing the &quot;default&quot; query (ie $wp_query and $wp_the_query are the same) where the call to wp_reset_query is superfluous.

<b>What steps will reproduce the problem?</b>
1. Visit my installation
2. View the member list and select a member to view their profile
3. Also navigate to the forum page and select a board to view how the Mingle Forum button images are affected by the Arras theme

<b>What is the expected output? What do you see instead?</b>
The boarders implemented on Pages interfere with the appearance of the Mingle pages, the Profile page being the biggest example. The tab buttons (new topic etc.) on the forum pages are also separated by these boarders, interfering with the appearance of the forum. How would I go about editing/removing these boarders on pages? Ideally I would also like to alter the colour of all boarders slightly, as those surrounding my widgets etc. are not as defined against the background colour as I would like.

<b>What versions of WordPress and Arras Theme are you using?</b>
