mmm most likely because it is using the whole git history, where also deleted files are mentioned.

I just patched to exclude non-existing files but I didn't have a repository at hand that let me reproduce your issue

I may take you up for the co-maintainer proposal: let me see if support demand increases with the publishing on melpa. Or did you mean you have plans to extend code compass?

Not necessarily, first time using tools like this so not sure what features i'll be missing or needing but i'm sure i'll reach a point where I start looking at them and maybe add them in here ;)
