BHASHA - a language learning app

Table of Content

Background

"Bhasha" means Language in Sanskrit.

This repository contains source code, presentation decks and images related Bhasha learning application.

For learning any language, we may need to memorize words to improve our vocabulary. Bhasha attempts to help you address this problem.

Source Language is a language that user wants to learn. And Destination Language(s) are languages, which a user employs to understand Source Language.

In our examples, Source Language is German and Destination Languages are English or any Indian Language. One can use any google supported language family.

Recent studies (Figure 1) show that german has been trending language now for learning amongst foreigners. Having limited resources for learning, Bhasha aims to help these students.

bhasha's Issues

Video tutorial

Its not a issue. but wanted to know if there is a video guide to use this or any tutorial

List of improvements feedback / issues for Ver 2.0 Bhasha

  1. full image not visible / gets cropped - only images of Literarian ( for ex: Kahlil Gibran ) gets displayed, but links are missing - is there a way to resize app based on my windows resolution thats set ( refer Bhasha_Feedback_1.jpeg ) - refer issue#6 below too

2.Low prio: Output folder is not getting created automatically - Documentation can be updated with proper info

  1. output defaults to 'project' subfolder despite selecting a different subfolder ( refer Bhasha_Feedback_2.jpeg )
however audio files are getting stored properly in output folder to what we select

  2. can we rename default extension type of output translated files to .txt
<filename.bhasha.txt> so that users can also view the contents ?

  3. Low Prio: if a file alredy exists, can the app delete or overwrite and replace it ? ( for ex: I might use same filename but with different word list ) - ( refer Bhasha_Feedback_3.jpeg )

  4. same issue here - can we resize the message / notification window ? - complete word list does not appear due to this issue and most important the SUBMIT button gets disappered

  5. Feature request : also a nice feature would be - if the words in playlist keeps playing one after the other with 3-5 seconds delay

  6. for reading-3 types, the JSON format is a restriction and might be hard for user to create

anyway to automatically generate it from our sample texts ? ( refer Bhasha_Feedback_4.jpeg)
