uqm-vita's Issues

netplay support

for rev2, we should aim to support netplay and the vita has suitable networking capabilities.
haven't looked into this at all yet, and i should actually try netplay in normal UQM first to have an idea of how it works (i've never tried)

centre screen when set to integer 2x scale

i didn't notice this earlier but we should make it possible to play the game with 2x integer scaling so that there isn't any uneven pixel smearing. at the moment, when resheight is set to 480 in the config, the window sticks to the top of the vita screen, preferably we should centre it.

OpenAL support

will allow positional audio to be enabled -- a feature i don't actually like but it should be simple to do in theory

graphical error when content is not installed properly

people may in future install using the homebrew browser or otherwise, so we should get them to follow the instructions in the README (it'll be there by the time it's released) if they don't have the uqm content installed in the ux0:/data/ directory. maybe we can utilise the built-in msgbox code

slow smooth scrolling drawing performance

many references to threads blocked by the DC queue (draw call?). needs to be optimised as currently the PSP port performs better in melee (inexcusable). changing from SDL thread to pthread library made no difference, maybe use native threads? will need to investigate

directional joystick support

at the moment, the ps vita left joystick maps the normal UQM tank controls. a directional joystick option should be added to the settings and will allow the ship either during melee or the flagship to go in the same direction as the joystick (rounded to UQM's 16 directions), similarly to the android port. it should be possible to reuse the code from the android port here

local two player melee via external controller

this may already be possible?
there are plugins which allow you to connect controllers like ds34vita, or minivitatv
reminding myself to try this, though changes may not be necessary

going out and back in crashes or freezes the game

if going out of the game, i.e. pressing the PS button or putting the console into sleep mode, often results in erratic behaviour especially during transitions.

  • going out and back in truespace freezes the game when you go into hyperspace
  • going out and back in almost always stops music from playing
  • going out and back in during melee crashes the game

not sure how to approach this one yet
